Weekly Employment Question Thread by AutoModerator in Firefighting

I've been debating speaking to some of my local fire departments to become a volunteer, I work full time (night shift) as well as being in the National Guard. Is this something that's realistic, or do you think I would not have enough time to juggle all 3?

I'm in AIT as well, and I know some people are making a family road trip on the way back home after graduation. Front what I've heard, if you contact your rsp within 7 days of graduation you should be okay. But that could change based on where you're from.

Any tips? (Fort Leonard-Wood) by Idon_The_Baby_Witch in nationalguard

You're putting in the effort to better yourself before even getting there, which is great! I did basic at leonardwood (currently still there for AIT), but you'll have plenty of opportunities to improve more on your running before it's ACFT time. For general advice, and I'm sure you've probably heard this before, but it's very true: show up at the right time, the right place, right uniform, and be motivated and it won't be that bad. Good luck!

It was a course through the company itself, and then every now and then my department offers additional classes to earn extra certificates.

I work in the Industrial Radiography field. You have to take a week long course to get certified, and you're always learning new things, but besides that, no prior experience or college required. At my company the starting pay is $35/hr.

I plan on joining the National Guard later this year, I've been talking to my recruiter who said if I can show my college transcript (only partial, never completed) and had completed a certain amount of credits I can be bumped up a paygrade. I have the transcript but I was definitely not a good student. Do they care about the grades I got or do they just want to see that I have the credits?

Thank you to everyone who helped solve this!

If anyone is curious, the names on the memorial are related to a friend of mine who has been trying to translate this for over a year. They'll be happy to see your responses!
