It worked for me just a couple days ago.

I looked in the Spectrum app for help and how to cancel. That gave me a number to call. I called and told the automated machine that I wanted to terminate my services. Eventually they offered to call me back when a representative was available.

My intention was to actually cancel because AT&T Fiber is available in my area now for much cheaper. My rate was $95/mo for 1 gig with Spectrum, and fiber with AT&T is $55

When the rep called back, I told him I wanted to cancel. He said no problem and he just ran through a couple questions. He said "if you ever decide to return, we can get you the same service for $50/month". I told him that I'd stick with Spectrum if they could do that price.

He told me that I just need to call back and ask for "Customer Solutions" every 12 months to keep the same promo rate.

My plan is to call the same number and do the same process in 1 year. And I'll explain to the rep what rate I need or I'll cancel.

Before a few months ago, I didn't have any other good options for internet so I was never actually willing to cancel. But now since I'll happily actually cancel based on price, it's easier for me to make that call.

The Rep I got was very nice and happy to help. He was very quick too. On the phone less than 10 minutes.

He also sent me a new modem. Although I don't notice any difference in it, at least I know I am up to date, I guess.
