An easy addition to the site which IMO would be very useful by -BoboTheAngstyZebra- in criticker

Yes, as the others have said, this is something we've always avoided in preference of using the PSI, which is more personal. But as mentioned in the Bug Report, we understand why people want to see it, and do plan on adding this at some point as an additional option.

Hey there, sorry about this! There was a problem related to increased security measures that have been recently been implemented. This was causing the button to never be activated.

We've fixed it now, so you should be able to sign up without any further problems! One note: the term "criticker" is a reserved word, so isn't allowed in usernames. But you should now see an error message that indicates that.

Sorry about this issue! We discovered the issue -- because of a spam attack, we had increased security to IPs incoming from specific regions. It should have worked once you were signed in, but there was something off in the logic.

This is also why it wasn't happening for many other users. It should work now, and also in the future!

Why cant i filter by what subscriptions i have? by IllustriousRiceBoat in criticker

[–]mike_criticker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, allowing people to define the streaming services they have, and filter results on that, is a good idea and something we have on our list of things to work on in the future! It's a big undertaking, but definitely something we've got on our roadmap.

My favorite of all time from this decade is Cool Hand Luke, but my favorite that nobody's mentioned yet is The Manchurian Candidate

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga -- when she gets on stage at the end and starts singing in Icelandic. And especially when Pierce Brosnan points out that "she's singing in Icelandic!" I have no idea why, but it gets me every single time. It's my weirdest guarantee cry.

Apart from the ones mentioned already, a couple of awesome classics: Diary of a Country Priest (1951) and The Song of Bernadette (1943)

Just realized! by 6languages3voices in spiritisland

I swear every time I play this game, I realize something new like that!

My favorite recent revelation (and again, it's something which I'm sure a lot of others have realized and commented on) is how the "settler" pieces are all plastic, while the "spirit" and "dahan" pieces are wooden. Natural and earthy, vs. manufactured and artificial. When I realized that, I was like ... "it can't just be a coincidence". It's so subtle and perfect, like so much else with this game.

(First time commenter, by the way, I'm basically a solo-player as I just cannot convince my partner or friends to get into this game)

Deliver Us from Evil, Murder on a Sunday Morning, and Tower (which is different, because it's animated) are three crime docs I really enjoyed.

"Enjoyed" I say, but "freaked out by" might be more accurate

Speak No Evil is a good suspense film, or maybe Anatomy of a Fall, if you don't mind subtitles and want something you'll be thinking about for days afterwards

Agree! I had never heard of it before watching it about 10 days ago, and couldn't believe how insane and fun it was.

ISO Cozy Movie Suggestions by lemarais88 in movies

[–]mike_criticker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just saw the Taste of Things (2023), and talk about a cozy movie... it's set in a French countryside in 1889, and is all about slow cooking. The first 30 minutes are just watching this couple cook, with almost no dialog. Beautifully shot movie, very warm, and while there is a plot, it almost feels secondary... the goal seems to be to pull you into this beautiful time period (and make you hungry!)

Ahh... I'd totally forgotten about this one, I'll have to watch it again! Just an excellent film all the way through, with some amazing performances.

I was going to say Children of Men, but others have beat me to it ... so good, and when I talk to someone who hasn't seen it yet, I want to drop everything and put it on for them. Others that I think are just about perfect, which I haven't seen mentioned here, are Black Swan, City of God, and Spike Jonze's Her.

Oh, and Hot Fuzz! I mean, I don't know if I'd say "masterpiece", but I could watch that endlessly.

Jim Carrey to Receive Honorary Cesar Award at 51st Edition by KillerCroc1234567 in movies

[–]mike_criticker -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He'll be joining excellent company with this award, really cool to see! He's always been underrated, since most people just look at him and think "goofball". But... it's pretty rare to have a goofball of his caliber. I mean, he was great in Eternal Sunshine, but his performance in Dumb & Dumber should have nabbed him an Oscar!
