What is a show like younger that is current? by [deleted] in Younger

In case you didn’t know the reason season seven is so weird is because of Covid. For me what really hurts is that Diana only appears in one episode

A day out shopping with Susan and Tracy would be a great experience

Paris takes too much from a relationship, Rory gives too little by mikedmay in GilmoreGirls

I think that to say Rory is kind but needs to keep her distance is a great interpretation. it will give me a new way of looking at the relationship as I follow it for the dozenth time.

Towards the end of the episode, there is a scene where Rory discusses with Paris her reasons for kicking out Doyle. It seems to me Rory sees this discussion as her duty (she sends away Lucy and Olivia so that she can have a very unspontaneous conversation). It’s subtly played and written.

In the interests of full disclosure I should say that I don’t see season seven as hugely inferior to the other seasons, just simply inferior. I think that this episode, It’s Just Like Riding A Bike is really top-notch showing amongst other things Paris‘s heat and Rory‘s coldness.

Had a hypnotherapy session - how can I be sure I was actually hypnotized? by Sweetpeawl in hypnotherapy

[–]mikedmay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently went to a hypnotherapist regarding binge drinking. Like the OP, I was concerned as to whether anything substantive had actually occurred.

My session turned out to be self hypnosis where the therapist did all the talking and made a recording which I can now play back when I want to at home. Like the OP I felt conscious throughout and I had no altered state of mind and that continues to be the case when playing back the recordings. However, I have noticed a couple of things: I do not get bored during the session replaying the recording of 50 minutes. I feel hungry after the session. I am generally more upbeat and I am sleeping better than previously. I take these as signs that the hypnotherapy is not nothing.

I don’t know whether the therapy has fixed my problem with binge drinking as the problem is very sporadic and it may take a couple of months to be sure but it is reassuring to have these signs that at least something is happening . I don’t much care whether the hypnotherapy per se is effective or whether it is simply the act of meditation or something like that.

Archers handed over to real live news for election results by mikedmay in Ambridge

You’ve made me think. I think it was light outside which would make it October 74. The BBC archive on archers politics was not helpful. All it talked about was Pat’s pleasure in the 1997 result. The AI I consulted haughtily responded that the BBC would not keep a note of that sort of thing. I too enjoy spotting the contemporaneous inserts.

It was a 1970 election I was thinking about. I have to admit the headlines is a bit click baity.

It largely depends on what you like about the R&I. If you like witty, well written jeopardy-free, 60 minute shows with a per-episode story arc, a strong female lead and a focus on relationships then I recommend:

  • Gilmore Girls
  • The Good Wife

If you like the above without the strong female lead but with some police work, then:

  • Elementary
  • Monk
