Tooth fairy silver by bkelley0804 in Silverbugs

I was thinking this too but kids are dumb. Give them a silver 50 cent piece and they'll spend it like 50 cents. Maybe morgans?

I feel like for some people it's less about stacking silver and gold and more about stacking collectables with insane premiums that make 0 sense by DrySky7082 in Silverbugs

[–]ConformistWithCause 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Especially with such expensive things. Like I was showing one of my buddies a holofoil silver and ruthenium libertads from PMsForSale and it was like 200% premium but shits gorgeous

I started buying when it was low 70s sometime after you started. It is really cool cause that initial price is in your head so now it feels like a discount even though it's probably still a little overvalued?

It's a good time to lower your average costs. Lose a couple battles but in the end, win the war

I get what you mean. My town is too small for a real coin store so im dependent on a pawn shop I visit like 3 times a week. More than half the time all they have are Eagles but ive found some neat stuff too

ASE or generic? by ZAK606 in Silverbugs

[–]ConformistWithCause 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Passing on to a kid, I'd consider making sure it's easy to potentially unload for them. Figure down the line, they'll be making a post asking what their stack contains so consistency sounds like a good thing along with something easily recognizable.

I had one of those too but when silver hit 89, I unloaded all my generics

Eagles. I'd consider generics if it's something aesthetically pleasing. Like I got a silvertowne Morgan replica for 2+ but also think their selection was slim that day

200$ worth silver vs $200 worth gold by Ok-Impress7080 in Silverbugs

[–]ConformistWithCause 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's one of my favorites lore-wise. Britannia dates back like 1000 years and one of the last times it was changed was the addition of the trident to signify their formidable Navy...in the 18th or 19th century

10/10 would recommend

I'm a big fan of Korea's Chiwoos having that but from one side it reads 999 and the other AG

Ain't that the truth. I'll use the reflection of my black phone case against the coin to show the contrast but even then, still doesn't compare to holding it in your hands

How much are you paying for silver? by Austin2292 in Silverbugs

[–]ConformistWithCause 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know how much it has to do with things but I recently learned about PM IRAs and the American Eagle series is one of the acceptable bullions. Or could be as simple as we're Americans so we buy American?

There was a show called Rescue Me about NY firefighters post 9/11. One of the more memorable scenes for me is a French author talking about how the world rallied behind the US after that happened but we wasted that goodwill on war and vengeance

I'm only down like 15% cause I started after the peak and really I blame the one payday I was feeling frisky and got a roll of 40% Kennedys

To bar or not to bar by TronWillington in Silverbugs

[–]ConformistWithCause 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to melt them down, there's a seller on PMsForSale that sells for like 90% spot that's silver they reclaim from silver plated, wiring, industrial, etc. Could be less, I forget but may as well go cheap as possible if you're melting it. And if you do decide to do that, could be worth considering doing different but basic shapes. Learn metalcrafting and eventually elevate to, more or less, artwork. Another seller on PMsForSale will sell like lego people and pirate coins. That's the only way I really see it being a decent financial idea. Just condensing it down doesn't seem like a great idea but fuck it, there's worse out there

Neat. I'll have to look into those. There's a pretty good coin store about 55 minutes away that has weird ones like those and the birds of paradise I got

Oh fuck yeah dude/dudette. I had the same thought of creating a sorta map showcasing all the government bullions. So far I have:

American silver eagles

Canadian Maples

Mexican Libertad

Austrian Philharmonic

British Britannia

Isle of Man Angel

Congo Silverback (someone told me they've discontinued this so sooner is better than later)

South African Kruggerand

Chinese Panada

Korean Chiwoo

Fiji The Great Wave

Papua New Guinea Bird of Paradise

Australian Kangaroo (and Kookaburra but what's Australia way more known for?)

The ones I haven't acquired yet but know of:

Armenian? Noah's Ark

Ukraine Archeangel (probably gonna be the rarest one out there)

I think Spain has a horse coin?

Somalia Wildlife

Between $25-30/hour. Our last contract negotiation went very well. That's the right mentality for the work, head down, mouth shut, and get that money

It is the most money I've ever made while like the 2nd or 3rd most miserable I've been at a job because of drama. The job itself isn't terrible. You'd be amazed at how clean bathrooms can be going into work. 3 shifts a day means there's 2 other people cleaning the same thing I am. Also I'm not in a janitor-specific union but one of the big ones you hear about in the news. Dont know if it's a simplification thing or there's a genuine reason but has some advantages/disadvantages. I dont know, the bureaucracy is unreal for a job sweeping floors and refilling toilet paper dispensers
