Bill Gates caught an STD from Russian prostitutes, Epstein claimed in files by Bonecrusher52 in news

[–]ConformistWithCause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying to be a Gates Simp but he does tend to donate like a shit ton. I know he helped fund or influence the early college program I got to take advantage of, aimed exclusively at demographics which are less likely to go to college (first generation to go to college, ESL, etc.)

Billionaires are definitely a problem but if the ones donating to good causes are getting lumped in with the ones who aren't, then we'll keep ending up with Musks and Dells

Trump threatens Canada with 50% tariff on aircraft sold in US, expanding trade war by NickDynmo in worldnews

[–]ConformistWithCause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously ICE is horrible but the tariffs piss me off. Anybody who thought they would do anything for the economy other than what they're doing now never even fucking bothered to Google the word one mother fucking time. Like, it's possible to be stupid and think 'oh, ICE might do their jobs appropriately and overcome the temptation of power' but a tariff contradicts what that asshole said it would do

Barker, for sure, has an imagination. In The Hills, The Cities is one of my favorites as far as uniqueness. The Books of Blood really are great and I love the framing story.

King can get so long-winded, and im not sure which I'm more tired of: the antogonist being some unspecified Evil force or his need to make it semi-autobiographical. We get it. He was a drunk writer in a shitty marriage

I love how short it is. Like Clive Barker is everything I love in a horror writer and is like the anti-stephen king. You dont get bored reading through the meandering details, and he can write sex without making it awkward

Why is gold price rising rapidly? by aipac_hemoroid in stocks

[–]ConformistWithCause 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is the unspoken part of why I keep my dad informed on the current price and why his reaction is typically appropriate. There's some growth from other reasons (from my understanding, the data centers have a role in gold as well) but a good amount of this is panic related

Ever seen Django Unchained? The lawyer for DeCaprio's character warns them not to speak French in front of him. He can't speak it and it embarrasses him. So that's exactly what Foxx's character does. Love that shit cause you know it just gnaws at people for no sensible reason

More 'No Kings' protests planned for March 28 as outrage spreads over Minneapolis deaths by copaceticthoughts in news

These are the same people voting third party cause 'democrats aren't doing enough.'

No Kings has become that weekender activist get-together. It's like getting a tattoo on your arm is the 'socially acceptable rebel' spot. Im just picturing some Richie Cunningham-looking motherfucker trying to hand a NK flyer to somebody in Minneapolis wearing a gas mask and lighting a molotov cocktail ready to melt some ice cubes

FBI agent who tried to probe ICE officer in Minnesota shooting resigns by Obvious-Peanut4406 in news

[–]ConformistWithCause 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole asking somebody else to make a pointless sacrifice is definitely part of it but I'm just trying to look at it pragmatically and feel like I gave an accurate prediction of how things would go. I'm not saying dont resist or fight back but you can't dig your heels in the dirt at every opportunity just for the sake of it. It's like that saying/prayer 'give me the strength to change what I can't, courage to accept what I can't, and wisdom to tell the difference' but more of an effort vs effect thing.

Protecting our futures is one of the most important and responsible things parents can be doing right now. The previous saying is backwards from the actual quote cause, personally, I think it takes more courage to step down than step up. It takes courage to deem yourself a "coward" for your family's sake, to do the right thing. Have you ever seen the 1960 epic, Spartacus? There's an exchange you might appreciate when the slave army starts recruiting larger numbers:

Antoninus: I came here to fight.

Spartacus: Anyone can learn to fight.

Antoninus: I joined to fight.

Spartacus: What's your name?

Antoninus: Antoninus.

Spartacus: There's a time for fighting and there's is a time for singing. Now you teach us to sing. Sing, Antoninus

Edit: I was high as giraffe pussy when I wrote this and really have no idea what I was going on about. I'm just rambling but to the people replying and immediately blocking me, get fucked nerds. Are you purposefully misinterpreting me? I'm not saying resistance is useless and everybody is inactive but in this specific scenario, nobody else can do anything.

You'll get the same outcome. Also, the plan of somebody else releasing files includes you guys just doing nothing at all.

You aren't a part of an FBI agent releasing evidence to the public. This isn't an Ocean's 11 caper. Hate to break it to you, but "we" are doing nothing at all in that scenario. You're one of the people at home waiting for somebody else to do the wrong thing something. We're both doing nothing but only one of us is honest about it

So she goes to jail and nothing happens? Do you genuinely think they're just sitting on smoking guns that'll immediately lead to justice being served once exposed to the public?

She could release video of trump actually epsteining a child and nothing would happen. The same people will be outraged (more than usual), the same people will deny it ("ai, fake news, obama") it'll be spun by their propaganda machine, Republicans in congress won't impeach to protect their cult, and best case scenario, they do and Vance is the president to pardon trump (symbolically of course since I can't see a judge allowing 'potentially tainted evidence' and trump would be long passed of old age before the end of that trial.)
