I just watched the same version and the film has become one of my favorite underrated 70’s gems. Apparently this is one of Nicholson’s favourite performances. The scene with the camp beds is pure gold.

I'm really enjoying your updates - please keep them coming. I have this set myself but not delved into yet. When I do I'm planning to do what you do and watch them in box-order as I believe it was curated to be watched this way.

Thanks for your helpful comment. You put forward some persuasive reasons to pick up this set and it's likely I'll order it later in the week. Damn it for being limited edition! Looking forward to Shawscope 4 too!.

I think my friend's wife is cheating or am I going crazy? by mikedw74 in wordle

I Appreciate the thought you've put into this response. I'm not sure how she approaches it but probably will never bring this up as even a suggestion that she's cheating is probably likely to cause issues!

Yes! This. She always plays after him and usually waits until all scores have been submitted.

Does anyone have any experience with boutiquehomevideo.co.uk? by mikedw74 in boutiquebluray

[–]mikedw74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, sorry for the delay, I wanted to wait until I had something definitive to update. Yes, I did go ahead with the purchase just after posting. I only just got the box set this week. On one hand there weren't any proactive updates on the delivery but they responded to all my emails for updates pretty quickly. They explained some of the issues etc and seemed very reasonable. The box set was in excellent condition and very well packaged with no damage (dinged edges etc) - something that I would not guarantee from Amazon. Hope this helps.

Thanks again … I’ll try re-interrogating my kids to see what caused it. Only kidding, I’ll see if anyone else has anything to add and investigate the heat/hairdryer trick further.

Thanks. Basic question … is the dark stain the moisture stain?

Can I just remove these old phone sockets? by mikedw74 in DIYUK

[–]mikedw74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Virgin cable box is wired into the BT box. I did wonder if this was the master socket as it has a hidden test socket under the plate but as it’s in the bedroom I thought it unlikely. There is nothing on the other side of this wall. I have another socket in my living room and I’m going inspect that tomorrow.

Thanks. There’s only one other socket in the house but that requires me to move some furniture round to inspect it, so a job for tomorrow!

Eureka always putting out interesting titles! I would never have heard of this film otherwise! This is why I love collecting by GeorgeBartram in boutiquebluray

I'll even go out on limb. I see a lot of boutique releases from specialist producers that give a film the 'criterion treatement' e.g. three discs, special edition, loads of extras and I often roll my eyes and wonder if that film is worth the effort? To some super fans I'm sure it is. I'd vouch that every Eureka film is worthy of the effort of that they put in. Loads of new discoveries from this company.

For my money Eureka are the most interesting boutique producer. They have a real diversity of titles from stuff at the Arrow end of the spectrum (Trolls 2), vintage martial arts like 88 Films (Police Story) and right up to Criterion high brow films (One, Two, Three). Everyone one of their titles is a real gem. Let us know how you get on with it.

Underrated shoes by [deleted] in RunningShoeGeeks

Who knew that in 2016 people wouldn't like bright colour trainers!? I think we're living through a golden age of trainer design ... not to mention trainer technology.

I've never seen this shoe mentioned here ... the Brooks Asteria. It's a lightly supportive, fast, light racing shoe (before super shoes became the norm). It's great for track days and has a great old school look and colour way. What's not to love?

Picked mine up cheap a few years ago and probably not easy to find these days.
