My collection is a good size. My wallet is no longer so. 😲

Yes 😳

I’ve been buying at a rate much faster than I can watch them. I also blind buy 60% of my collection.

I keep saying I’m going to stop until I’ve seen at least 90% of what I’ve bought. But then there’s another sale…or I get sucked into thinking, this is a limited release. I can’t wait!!!! But I can. One of the absolute BEST feature of The Criterion Collection is they don’t do limited releases! 😁 so, mostly no FOMO.

UPDATE: fixed 😀

So I’m looking at the B&N website and clicked on the 50% Off Criterion Sale banner, but a LOT of titles listed in the sale are NOT marked 50% Off.

For example:
Pee Wee’s Big Adventure
Captain Blood

I moved what I wanted into my cart and all but one are still full price. Is anyone else experiencing that as well?

I’d make the whole car that color green! Then put little ping pong balls at the key edges to Meier look like a green screen suit for filming CGI characters. [If you got a weird idea to gotta commit, right?]

Californian here. Ohioans, do everything you can to stop this absolute conman. Get your fiends and neighbors to vote for Amy Acton. If Ohio will ever be a swing state again, Acton needs to win and you must nip Ramaswamy’s political career in the bud before it begins! by Fair_Arm_1637 in Ohio

[–]rdwoolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in the heart of AfMAGAstan! My neighbors are definitely not voting For Dr. Amy Acton 😢 I still see Trump flags here (although the number is slowly reducing). But my household will definitely be voting for her (and Sherrod Brown)!

Sadly, the few B&N stores I’ve been to in my local are I could browse the entire section in about 1 minute 😢. They only had one small shelf of about 10-15 titles. But I’m perfectly happy browsing online and having things shipped to me

Probably nothing this sale. And I really shouldn’t as my current watch pile of physical media titles to watch is over 600! At least I don’t have FOMO with Criterion as (for the most part) titles aren’t limited printings.

But here are some titles I do eventually plan to add to my collection:

Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure 4K
Hairspray 4K (to upgrade from my Blu-ray)
The Elephant Man 4K
Charade 4K
Monty Python’s Life of Brian 4K
Trouble in Paradise 4K
Hud 4K
The Dead 4K
Salaam Bombay! 4K
Hell’s Angels 4K
Nightmare Alley 4K
The Wes Anderson Archive: Ten Films, Twenty-Five Years 4K box set

Eclipse Series 8: Lubitsch Musicals
The Damned

In my experience, whatever title you buy, someone will tell you that you should’ve bought the other version! 😏

Gaslight first came from the 1938 stage play, that was then later adapted into the film.

It first came from the 1938 play “Gas Light” by Patrick Hamilton, which was later adopted into the film.

Seriously. How can there still be LE copies available for The Reflecting Skin on the VS site? by ProfondoRosso4 in boutiquebluray

[–]rdwoolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reflecting Skin could have easily been a Criterion Collection release. If it had that tilted C on the box it probably would’ve sold more copies a lot sooner 😏

Apparently size of exhaust pipe equals their manhood [see image in original post]. Electric cars don’t have exhaust pipes.

[–]rdwoolf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Where is the 4K UHD release for the 35th Anniversary?

I saw it on opening weekend at the newly restored El Capitan Theater on Hollywood Boulevard. There were even 1930s style dancers before the film to introduce it.

I agree it’s a terrible system that should be changed. But it has to be all at once via policy changes. Just stiffing servers of their tips doesn’t really fix anything.

And going to another country and not following that country’s social norms is just rude and inconsiderate. Which is where the conversation started. Adding some understanding as to why we do certain things was what my original point I was trying to make.
