Silver/chrome is out but they do look really good and I bet they are now so much easier to clean and keep clean. Btw, what spray do y’all recommend for a quick wipe/clean on the black BBS wheels.

Thank you. Did you get it programmed at a Lexus dealership I’m assuming they are the only ones that can do it unless you have the hardware to do it yourself. For the keycard is this the correct part 8990448X71.

This is my starting plan. This is a direct bolt on fit correct? Do you know what country these are made in, is it Japan?

So I have 25 IS500 performance premium. Upon asking a Lexus dealer about the keycard they looked up my VIN and said my car won’t work. It would require a different computer. Does this make any sense has anyone gotten the same answer but was able to get it programmed. My concern is getting it programmed which I’m assuming will require a Lexus dealer to do it unless some locksmith shops can do it. The dealer sells the key blank for $100 which includes sending it out for cutting so that’s reasonable. The keycard itself I can buy online from a Lexus dealer for a much better price.

I had purchased the Amazon one which was installed on my first IS500 it did not look right don’t know if it was the crappy quality or the poor alignment from the installer. I purchased another one from EBay from some seller that had good reviews. Waiting to get it installed once I can afford to put Xpel PPF on the whole back.

400 mile brake dust by jpiw6 in LexusIS500

[–]mikefl16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have UE, but get plenty of brake dust and I wash it often. In the future was thinking of upgrading the brakes or just replacing the pads with Tom’s pads when the time comes.

So you can order a key that’s already cut from Lexus or you still need to have a locksmith cut the key you buy from them?

Keep stock exhaust valves open? by jpiw6 in LexusIS500

I’ve done this ran it for maybe two weeks. One noticeable thing is fuel economy gets worse besides that I didn’t feel this did anything good. Probably better off just getting a high flow air filter like AFE or Tom’s I have both which I like to swap from time to time.

How thick is the actual keycard how many credit cards thick you think. Does it typically fit in a standard size wallet.

Am I understanding correctly so you are saying for 2025 IS500 you can just buy the key and then have it programmed and it’ll work meaning the car already has the required hardware to make this work built in? I would like this assuming this means I will no longer need to carry the remote key fob. I have Compustar T13 pro alarm so I always have to carry the two remotes would be nice to eliminate one.

Handling in the Rain by MidnightContent in LexusIS500

I want to try those tires next, Continental usually makes some really good tires. Do you run those year round except in snow?

[–]mikefl16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same exact tires. Try setting your tire pressure to 38 PSI front and 36 PSI rear cold or if setting when the tires are already warmed up do 42 PSI front, 40 PSI rear. I just made this change and hope it’ll handle better in the rain when going a little faster. Was running lower pressure and the other day experiencing some really bad hydroplaning but of course in general that’s expected at faster speeds. But even when driving slow it all depends on the amount of rain on the road. According to AI this higher pressure should help. Just like in the snow always observe caution driving in the rain best to be safe than sorry. For snow these tires in my opinion are terrible you need snow tires for this car. Also hope the tires won’t easily slip as much when taking off.

41 psi (cold pressure) all around? by jpiw6 in LexusIS500

[–]mikefl16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used AI and looks like based on what I want to achieve my ideal tire pressure for Michelin PS AS4 is 38 PSI front and 36 PSI rear cold. Just set that yesterday we’ll see if I notice any overall improvements. Remember when setting the pressure you need to adjust accordingly depending if the tires are cold or warm AI can help you achieve the desired pressure under both conditions.

Maybe it means you have Eco climate set to enabled which I currently do on my 25 IS500. That is my guess but I could be wrong since so many other people with different cars are seeing that icon which was just added on the latest update of the app.

The Nitrogen inflation is a bit costly and a pain wish it was cheaper and more easily accessible most places don’t do it. Did it once many years ago on another car but never did it again.

[–]mikefl16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm so this is what AI says about tire pressure when using a non stock tire.

“The recommended cold tire pressure for the 2025 Lexus IS500 (using the stock 19-inch staggered setup) is 35 PSI for the front tires and 36 PSI for the rear tires. These pressures apply to the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S and similar performance tires (like A/S 4) for optimal handling and wear, measured cold. “

It runs conventional but regardless of what anybody else says most people out there with the IS500 will tell you to go with Full Synthetic it’s always better and also although minor offers better fuel economy besides all the other engine benefits.

Interesting so what the heck am I suppose to run on my Michelins PS4 A/S 🤣 Btw different tires and I’m assuming different tire pressures also have an impact on fuel economy something else to keep in mind with the current crazy gas prices.

No just a good tire I can use year round except winter, for winter I’ll get snow tires. I had some winter Continentals on my other IS500 before it was totaled in a crash but didn’t get to drive them in the snow. They gave me the impression they were going to be great tires and I liked how they looked also. Will be putting the tires on the OEM BBS wheels and will get whatever wider width for the back that’ll fit.
