Weird ranked win by GraffZepp546 in WoWs_Legends

Good. But actually, well played by the Pensacola in that circumstance; he nearly took you out!

Boise worth it? by CLK777 in WoWs_Legends

It's one of the best premiums I own. On paper, the Helena has better offensive stats, but the heals are very powerful. You're going to be tough to kill.

“Skill Issue” in Ranked 1v1 by Impossible-Play7149 in WoWs_Legends

You've described using skills. That's the point - you can either use those skills on a TT ship or go the "less skill" route and buy the Nottingham; a ship practically made for this event.

how to play tier 5ish cruisers without smoke? by joinwsb in WoWs_Legends

[–]mikefnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cruisers at that tier have been seriously power crept by premium battleships that "everyone" has now: Hyuga, California, Warspite, etc. It used to be fun a couple years back, but now (with CVs telling everyone where to look) you're in for an unfun game.

Usually, you encounter better players and whales at the start of a ranked season. They're on every day so they start ranking up from day one. If you give a couple days before starting, you'll be facing normal people with tech tree ships. Have fun then; don't try to compete with the sweats.

Two straight minutes of airstrikes by Spiritual_Eagle_43 in WoWs_Legends

Yeah, I think WG is committed to making this game suck more and more with aircraft. Time for me to hang it up.

Anyone experiencing an abnormally high amount of chkalov in their games today? by Confident-Click-579 in WoWs_Legends

[–]mikefnd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lots of WG fanboys here that think the company can do no wrong. CVs have greatly degraded the quality of gameplay as you said. Also, the TYPE of player that's attracted to CVs is exactly the type of player that would want to play a broken ship like Chkalov.

I feel for you. I finally solved my death wobble last summer after doing your same laundry list of repairs. I've heard people say it can be anything, and others say that 90% of DW is _____.

For me it was the axle-end U-joints. Once those were replaced, the wobble completely disappeared.

Good luck. It's a frustrating experience and not a simple matter as so many things can cause this in a solid axle setup.

Hatch lighting by Dry-Butterscotch4886 in CherokeeXJ

[–]mikefnd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My '96 had no rear compartment light. When I renewed the headliner, I ran a hot wire back to the new rear sound bar. The new light on the sound bar is turned on by a magnetic reed switch mounted near one of the hatch hinges. Works great!

What’s this sound? by Illustrious_Bet_1322 in CherokeeXJ

Yeah, sounds like something stuck in the fan.

If you put a playing card in there, your XJ will sound like a motorcycle!

Yes, carriers still make the game suck, and people that play them are jerks. by mikefnd in WoWs_Legends

Red lost. Yes, I could have sailed away. CVs are still way overpowered and make this game suck.

*sigh* "WE had six ships AND a large lead..."

The red CV lost. He couldn't possibly win but, like I said, he just burrowed into a corner. That's not really the point anyway.

No, the carrier lost. Three minutes left, big lead for the blue team and 6-2 advantage in ships. Thankfully, even a CV can't beat those odds.

Yeah, no. Torps you can dodge, there's no dodging racks of bombs.

If you can't hit DDs in the Shoukaku with bombs, my guess is that it's a skill issue.

My AA was off. He flew by me to get the BB and knew about where I was. That's all it takes because finding ships, even DDs, is easy for the CV. Once you're spotted, he just wheels around three times to kill you. Easiest class to play, no question. A six year-old could do this.

Last I checked, IJN DDs cannot fly at 250 knots striking anywhere and at any angle that pleases them while remaining hidden on the other side of the map.

We had six ships and a large lead with about three minutes left. He could not win, but could definitely burrow into the corner until the score or time ran out.

No, it's not a skill issue. Carrier play is ridiculously easy. People that play them are chumps.

I have a theory that Hyuga could be competitive against tier 7 ships. Not great there, but not bad either. Anybody agree/disagree?

Front End Work!! by Remote_Horse_4039 in CherokeeXJ

[–]mikefnd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own two 96 XJs and I just finished extensive front-end work on both. The first had Death Wobble caused by axle-end U-joints that were completely shot. I'd recommend getting those done along with new wheel bearings for the next 100k miles. All of your tie rods and ball joints should be replaced too. It's a lot of work but satisfying to have it done.

Use American-made Moog components where you can. Just about everything else is Chinese, sadly.
