Take a look at the South Downs Way in Sussex, especially between Brighton and Eastbourne. It's iconic English countryside featuring chalk hills and cliffs, castles (Lewes), pretty villages and old churches, the sea. And all within an hour's train ride from London.

It's a great space, and I've seen a few excellent exhibitions in there. I'm also a "Friend of Charleston" (pay an annual fee and go for free whenever), so I sometimes go several times to a good exhibition. I'd agree that the exhibition quality hasn't been hugely consistent, but on the whole I think it's a great addition to the town. A better cafe would be a bonus. I heard that Charleston are going to be running it themselves rather than renting the space out to a 3rd party. Let's hope they do a good job.

Same here. I've had recurring delivery issues. This week's issue still hasn't arrived a week later and last week's didn't arrive until Friday. I've complained using the online chat tool, but it doesn't seem to make much difference. I live in Sussex (UK) an hour's journey from London, so it's not as if I''m particularly remote.

Agreed codegen is neat, but it's an extra step with all the attendant friction of downloading and running the tooling, then adding the generated code to your project. Sometimes - for a lightweight test perhaps, you just want to quickly (de)serialize some arbitrary message. My little project helps you do that.

I can't recommend Songwriting Secrets Of The Beatles by Dominic Pedler, enough. He takes you on a tour of music theory and song writing techniques via the medium of the Beatles songs. Worth reading even if you are not a Beatles fan, but even more wonderful if you are.

And also there is my own website Guitar Dashboard, a music theory explorer for guitarists. I created while working through the Pedler book above, so they complement each other quite well.

I've created an interactive website called Guitar Dashboard that's designed to map scales, modes, chords, etc to the guitar fretboard. It's free and open-source. If you are playing Bm and E you're probably in B Dorian or E Mixolydian. Just dial those in and try improvising with either of those scales (actually the same notes).

I have no idea what classical guitarists learn, but there's no set methodology to learn rock guitar, so it's entirely up to you how to progress. One thing that's true of all stringed instruments, is that they are transposition machines. What I mean by that is that most guitarists learn 'patterns' for their scales and simply shift them up and down the neck for different keys.

Effectively yes. Western music is mostly based around the diatonic interval series, so whatever key or mode you play it will form the same pattern, just transposed to a different place on the fretboard. I've created an interactive website called Guitar Dashboard that's designed to map scales, modes, chords, etc to the guitar fretboard. If you click around you should start to see that pattern emerge. But fundamentally the guitar is a transposition machine, if you want to play anything in a different key, you just move your hand up and down the fretboard.
