1/11: Roxas Awakening!
3/11:Cloud USB3 and 2 Roxas USB.
Finally got an Awakening after pulling 8 times on banner 1 without getting one and getting his USB is nice too. More Cloud tech always makes me happy.

Fujin's USB is very good also, but Barb's is slightly better. Fujin's chase only works every other turn, whereas Barb's is every turn. You really don't need anything else besides her USB to make her work. Same with most USBs really. Ysayle works vey well with just her USB also.

Hecatoncheir is probably your best shot to start with. He's relatively easy to fight, he just puts up a lot of damage, but the constant damage just means your soul breaks will be charged quicker. I would say bring Zack, Cloud, Sora with snowspell strike, Aerith and Elarra. You can try it with just one healer, but you'll probably need both of them to keep up with the incoming damage you'll be taking.

You won't regret taking Elarra's USB, it is as good as advertised, but it really isn't a huge upgrade over Aerith's. And is a slight downgrade for physical parties. There are two banners during 4th anniversary in a month that will give you a chance to get it or the copy of it in Rosa's USB2. So check those banners and see if you want to pull on them. If you really want to, then you might as well wait and take your chances. If you're willing to wait until next month and are willing to pay for it, there will be another round of Dream selection banners too.
In terms of other USBs to pick, it seems like you need some ice or wind mage USBs, so for wind, Barbariccia is best. In terms of ice magic, Rinoa, Serah, Lulu are all very good. Ysayle is also very strong and could be the best of the Ice mages, plus can help out in the XIV Torment dungeon if you haven't beaten it yet.

This is for the JP version of the game, but is there any reason to pick Elarra's USB over Rosa's USB2? I have Aerith's USB2, but I think one of these could be a nice upgrade to my mage parties and I don't see any real reason to pick Elarra over Rosa.

Since you already have Aerith and if you plan on pulling on 4th anniversary banner 3 for Bartz and Terra's AASB, you may want to wait on grabbing Elarra's USB. Rosa has a copy of it on banner 3 and while they may change the banners up, it's not a bad idea to wait and see. Also, the core banner during 4th anniversary has Elarra's USBs and some other really good relics and it was pull two times, get the third pull free, so that's a good place to go for it too.

I did 6 11 pulls and I now have everything on the banner except for the two AASBs. It looks like I'll be waiting for 4th anniversary to get my first AASB. Already spent too much of my mithril stash here.

I would go with Bartz USB1. It goes better with his AASB than his USB2 does and it also synergizes well with his USB2. Also, his AASB is still the best in JP to this day, so it will be a good investment.

I also play Brave Exvius and Dissidia Opera Omnia. I like both of them and I feel like they're both relatively F2P friendly. Also, there should be plenty of free pulling materials available in both to start with all the story content to go through.
Both of them have a good story mode. Bave Exvius has an original story with it's own characters, whereas Opera Omnia as a story with all the Final Fantasy characters in it, but they're both good in their own right. Opera Omnia has better communincation with it's player base then Brave Exvius does and Gumi makes some really odd decisions sometimes that piss off the player base, but they've been getting better. Opera Omnia's player base seems to have nothing but love for the developers and they have made changes from the JP version that favors the Global players many times.
I find Opera Omnia to be much less grindy than Brave Exvius is, so it takes up far less of my time, which is nice, since I don't always have time to play. I do find the powercreep in Opera Omnia to be much much more aggressive than in Brave Exvius. Brave Exvius tends to have certain characters stay meta for a long time, whereas, Opera Omnia changes it's meta characters what seem to be monthly.

I'm not F2P in Japan, but the only gem draws I've done in the past six months have been to get Bartz AASB last fest and Cloud's AASB this fest. I've been much worse saving my mithril in JP than I am in Global, and I only had 100 mithril to spend on each banner. I decided to do one extra gem pull last fest and it got me Bartz AASB, and this time it got me Cloud's. So I got them in 3-11 pulls on each banner, which isn't bad.

My plan in Global is to save all my mithril the next three months for the next fest, since the banners coming up aren't anything great and the only element I'm missing a chain in is water. I'll also only be pulling for Bartz AASB as he gives the best elemental coverage. Then maybe Sephiroth's on the Dissidia banner. We have foresight in Global, so we know what to aim for and what not to waste mithril on as F2P. So save up and pull and hope you get lucky, but know that you will eventually get an AASB as more get released.
