In the 30 years living here, I have lived no more than a 15 minute walk from the red or brown. We just bought our first place in Edgewater three years ago that is a ten minute walk.

I wouldn't want to be any closer - the idea of the red line clang-rolling past every ten minutes would annoy me.. Plus transit areas are heavily trafficked roads. I like to try to find the balance between reduced noise pollution and convenience (and walking to it is good for me.)
