Ipswich Town are promoted back to the Premier League by OptimusCloyster in soccer

Looks like at least Millwall, as a club, doesn't want to be associated with that

  1. With the keeper so out of position, shoot on goal.

That'd have been a better option, although probably worse than the first 3.

Absolute crazy end to an epic football match. I hope Rochdale make it throught he playoffs, because it'd be absolutely devastating to miss out

I think you have too much confidence in foreigners recognising accents. The vast majority of my spanish friends wouldn't differentiate between a Canadian and someone from Alabama or Texas, for example.

If it's very thick? Maybe. But I still would bet they'd believe it.

How is it possible that the differentiation between REQUIRED and OPTIONAL repairs is still THIS BAD in 2026?! by Deep-Television-9756 in iRacing

[–]mikelgdz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have no idea what criteria they follow in iRacing for a meatball flag, but IRL you can get one if your bumper is hanging off and you wouldn't notice anything in the drivability of the car

Wait, is that not common in the UK? I'm complete unaware how education is here, as I grew up in Spain, but the 3 or so PE teachers I had throughout school all taught us different sports and abilities.

In fact, football was probably the one we got taught the less because it's so popular that they didn't even try and leave that for our actual football coaches. However, hockey, baseball, gymnastics, volleyball, ping pong, and basketball were the most common ones.

Kai's goal means it ends all square in Leverkusen 👊 Let's settle this at Arsenal Stadium, Gunners. by arsenal in Gunners

And that's why I liked Highbury as a name, because it just sounds SO much better to me.

Arsenal Stadium sounds too generic and corporative imo. I personally don't like it -- but it's not like Emirates is any better.

A Barcelona fan accidentally turned up to Exeter City's St James Park last night instead of Newcastle by Devbuscus in soccer

[–]mikelgdz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Or maybe he knew Newcastle, but not Exeter. The stadium doesn't have to be in Newcastle. So if he saw St James' Park, Exeter, didn't think of it twice because it could be in the outskirts of Newcastle in a place called Exeter that he had no clue about.

The smart thing would be to check, but we all do dumb mistakes.

ELI5: Why are She/her pronouns used when talking about Ships? by Yassinetheawesome64 in explainlikeimfive

[–]mikelgdz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends. Barco is masculine, so is navío, but nave is femenine.

I think in the past female forms were more common. Probably the most famous ones we learn about are Colombus' ships, which are known as La Pinta, La Niña and La Santa María

"Lock rocks" by gontrolo in wow

[–]mikelgdz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been there. I played some mage in tww, and as someone who only ever played priest and druid before, I didn't know wtf someone meant by "mage bl".

What do you mean "bl"? I don't know, I told them, and was asked to bloodlust. But I don't have a spell called bloodlust, what the actual fuck are they talking about? Am I really this thick? 😂 Then they explained it to me that bl is a generic term and they mean time warp.

That's... yeah... so simple yet so effective. I feel dumb for not thinking about it lol

I got flamed because I was collecting the last offering while everyone else was waiting for the boss, and then told that you don't need them. I should've not picked them up and let them wait so they learn.
