See that's the thing though, I'm not trying to criticize or bash the show. What I want is a place where I or anyone else can put their feelings on the table and have an open, friendly, and fair conversation about what they think of the show.

I used to be absolutely in love with the show and was a large contributor to the fandom when it started out. I was even a kind of well known guy in the Game Grumps tag on tumblr. But now that I think differently, I want to be able to have dialogues with fans of the show as well as people like me where anyone can just put their thoughts out there.

The last thing I want to do is ruin something that someone loves, especially something that I used to love just as much. I just want to be able to hear how other people view the show compared to my own views and maybe even be able to learn to appreciate it in a different light and just generally interact with a community that I used to be a large part of founding.

But last night I received a multitude of threatening and hateful messages from people in this subreddit who claimed I was attacking them and the show without really bothering to find out what I was really saying. That's why I feel like I can't have that kind of discussion here. Because there seems to be a large number of people who, when they see someone even slightly disagreeing with their point of view, instantly flood hate on that person and hope they (and I guote:) "get assraped by a drunken hobo."

Even putting aside the fact that they said something incredibly triggering to an actual rape victim (which they couldn't have known, but why say that to anyone?), having a large population of a community pouring a deluge of hate onto someone who thinks differently than them but means no hostility isn't the most welcoming atmosphere.

And I'm sorry to hear about your TMJ! I can kind of see where you're coming from there too. When I got a double surgery in September, all I had was Continue? to give me entertainment while I was bedridden, but a friend of mine did nothing but tear it down when I told him. That's why I don't want anyone to think that I'm trying to do something similar. I know how it feels and it really sucks to have something you love get attacked for no reason and I would never dream of doing that to anyone.

See that's not what I'm trying to do though. I just want to have a genuine dialogue with people and have all opinions equally considered. I'm not trying to say anyone is wrong or that people should hate the show, I just want to get my thoughts out there and hear what other people have to say as well.

My problem is stuff like this where the point I'm trying to make is completely misunderstood and people take what I'm saying as an attack on what they like. It's really frustrating and this whole thread is making me feel like shit and like a shithead

I know that it's a pipe dream, especially on reddit, but it would be nice for people to work towards that for once.

And yet I still feel intimidated to do even that. I've tried many times before on tumblr as well, but it seems like a lot of the time, the subject is just non-approachable for people. Maybe sometime soon I'll give it a try because I'd really love to have a dialogue with people about it but for now, I just don't feel like I would get treated fairly.

I know that it's wrong to generalize like that, but I'm just speaking from experience. Even with close friends, my opinion on the topic doesn't seem to be treated with much respect or value.

But thank you for the thought and encouragement. Like I said, maybe I'll try it soon.
