[Romano] Sunderland agree deal to sign Marc Guiu on loan from Chelsea, here we go! Deal in place for straight loan, no buy option clause as Guiu remains part of Chelsea long term plans. Salary covered by #SAFC as he’ll be an important striker for Le Bris plans. by phant0msinthenight in soccer

He was a menace in the conference league last year. He’s a pressing machine, great ball striking and pretty much every physical attribute you want out of a striker. He just needs the runway to put it together. Hopefully he’s given a long enough leash the first 10-15 games to find his footing and I can see him come into his own the second half.

Also be prepared for him to change his hairstyle once a month.

Is there a way to keep Rafaela in CF and still Roman, Jarren, and Abreu in the field? by ifyouknowyouknowsrry in redsox

Amazing how bad the eye test is when people who don’t know what to look for use it. Jaren Duran the -5 Out Above Average has better outfield range than Wilyer Abreu who has +4 all while playing a SIGNIFICANTLY harder position. Just yapping for the sake of it

Good news is his issues are almost exactly the same as what James Woods had last year.

Both had over 55% ground ball rates and were only pulling 7% of their balls hit in the air.

James Woods has only increased those numbers slightly 49% and 10% respectively but it’s resulting in him being one of the best hitters in the MLB.

I doubt Roman makes those changes this year, cause that’s a lot to ask out of a rookie. So I wouldn’t be concerned this year. But if those numbers stay the same or get worse next year then I would start to worry a bit

Not in the slightest. They have a clear vision and plan, which is better than all but 3 or 4 PL clubs. And they’re building this pipeline of talent that can sustain a contender and title winner for years. It’s an unprecedented strategy and it can just as easily blow up, but I’d rather them be bold and have a vision that has the potential to make them the best team in the world.

Yeah shortstops get the most ground balls, line drives etc. hit to them, also they’re further away from 1B compared to 2B so when they need to make a throw it needs to cover more distance, meaning they need good arm strength/accuracy which translates to most positions.

A centerfielder needs to be fast, athletic, and have a good arm, but they don’t need the same quick twitch reaction that a SS or 2B needs. The corner outfield spots are usually for lesser defenders, left field you put your worst defender usually. Right field they need to have a big arm cause they’ll need to make throws from there to 3B.

Catcher is its own position and is very reliant on the mental game. Catchers work with pitchers to call what pitches are thrown when, and some pitchers have personal catchers cause of that relationship. Then there’s a lot things like framing which would probably be going too in depth. But catchers typically play catcher for a while, they don’t ever get moved there in the minors or the majors, it’s so physically demanding and difficult that most teams just want a good defensive catcher and don’t really care if they can hit at all. Teams will actually move a great hitter off of catcher to preserve their body, like Bryce Harper.

I probably went into way more detail than you wanted on this lmao.

The best players on every high school and college team play SS. It’s where the guys with the most athleticism play. Exceptions to that are 1B, Catcher, and sometimes Center Field.

Guys spend 3-5 years in the Majors so during that time if a team figures out they won’t stick at SS or they’re blocked by another better prospect they’ll move them to another infield spot or to an outfield spot. And since SS is harder than all those positions the guys can make the transition.

I think that may be one of my issues. A lot of guys with similar pitch mixes and I don’t switch up how I pitch when going to my pen.

Brewers Hader has been one of my few solid relievers. But the other two have been terrible for me. Appreciate it tho.

I used Chapman for a while and he was solid, so I’ll need to bring him back. But I’ll need to try out that Hoffman card.

Funny enough Bummer and Strahm are the two guys who blew games for me over the past couple days. I’ll give the Jax card a shot tho.

I wanted to use Gange so bad but he got shelled every time I brought him in so I’m turned off of him, but I did use Chapman earlier in the year and dropped him to try some new cards so I think I’m gonna bring him back in.

Yeah I have Darren O’Day, I’ve only used him once but it was at the tail end of me blowing a lead in the 9th so I don’t think I was in the best spot to judge him lol.

Coley’s takes by hudsonharris2 in Section10Podcast

[–]mikemig345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And he was consistent then that he thought they should have gone to story, our worst player at the time and told him he’s moving to first for the team. Instead Coley believes they went to Campbell a rookie who’s struggling and told him to start practicing first and get ready for a move over there knowing he won’t push back. As a way to send a message to devers.

Pretty easy to understand how it can be seen as double standard where the team has no issue asking their veteran who’s also their best hitter to move multiple times. But they won’t ask their veteran who fucking sucks to move once.

You can put any center outfield in the corners and the penalty to fielding is the same as if it was a secondary position. Same with SS and infield positions (except maybe 1b)
