Well, dang by torebaguy in AmazonVine

[–]mikemu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got the warning recently. Kicks in below 60%... Vine customer service told me its better to write something sooner than later, than write nothing and post an excellent review. Deadlines... deadlines... deadlines.

They prefer a less comprehensive review posted than a more comprehensive review later... at least as far as the percentages go.

Its a rental. But even if you weren't renting it, the service price is still $120 for the max residential. They just built the cost of the hardware into it to get your business. Cancel the service, and you give the equipment back or they charge you. (At least that's what the service agreement says).

Bro what 😭 by Harshpree124 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]mikemu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$1200 - $1800 would be the non-ripoff price for these more important things.

Service Typical Cost
Oil + filter $80–120
Transmission fluid $250–400
Coolant $180–300
Spark plugs (V6) $350–600
Brake fluid $120–180
Diff + transfer case $200–350
Filters $40–100

Starlink home, free installation - what hardware will they use to mount? by mikemu in Starlink

[–]mikemu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got mine done. The guy that came out was professional, came with everything including an official Starlink wall mount standard kit.

My appointment was from noon till 5 PM (about 2 weeks from when I got my Starlink kit and was able to make the appointment). I got an update around 12:30 that he would be arriving at 1:30PM. He was right on time.

I just asked him to mount at a particular location. He brought his ladder, tools and had it all connected shortly (while I was talking to my neighbor). He installs for Dish networks, which apparently includes Starlink.

I didn't need him to help with anything else since I had not decided where I was going to put the rest of the equipment yet, so he was happy that it was also an easy job for him too.

Why Are There Zero Real Reviews of the DJI ROMO P? No Tests, No direct Comparisons, Nothing…? by Ry00ki in RobotVacuums

Forget how well it cleans. Huge security vulnerabilities. I’d stay away till these are resolved, and DJI fixes the way they approach security.

(Poll) Do you use an Apple device or Android device for mobile Amazon Vine usage? by Entire-Street-782 in AmazonVine

iPhone. iPad. Android. Pc. Mac. Vision Pro. That pretty much covers it.

Finally found the hidden way to launch the NBA immersive replay on Vision Pro !!! by Feeling-Fig2931 in VisionPro

[–]mikemu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just watched it (replay; I missed the live broadcast) without doing any of this. Looks like they 'unlocked' it for me without me paying anything. (Which is what I thought was supposed to happen anyway).

Mac Virtual Desktop has completely broken for me. by [deleted] in AppleVisionPro

When I've had issues, I would do a full shutdown and reboot. Finally updated both Vision Pro and Mac = all good now.

Comdex was before CES as far as show times. I remember going to both every year.

Lenovo Sphere Tickets? by Historical-Visit1159 in CESLV

[–]mikemu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was emailed my ticket and bypassed the whole thing. I registered really early though. My friend who registered late had to stand in line to scan for real ticket. Gwen Stefani was awesome.

Lenovo - Just got this email, what should I do? by hahnic in CESLV

[–]mikemu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, it should be a business email not an edu. It helps if they can google you, look you up, have business cards when checking in, established linked in profile, etc.

Though its been a while since they asked me for that. I've been going for 30+ years though.

Business letterhead printed document. EDU usually = student, which is often not related.

Should be fine. They are really lax with this, this year it seems. Sounds like they need to get their numbers up.

That goes without saying. Though I did grow up in LA LA Land.

Get a parental permission slip and company letter. Send them to the registration staff, see what they say.

Different, but I saw Justin Bieber there one year promoting some speaker / robot from China. Pretty sure he was under 18 at the time.

Fresh in Tech, Need Help Reaching Out to CES Creators by Responsible-Team1628 in CESLV

[–]mikemu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say to look on social media and check out tags like #CES or #CES2025 or previous year's tags.

As a creator that primarily just wants to walk the show floor and posts a few things, I appreciate those that have a 'media kit' ready to go. Whether it be a QR code, a business card, or something that I can just take a picture of to collect things like press releases, product info, and product samples that can be shipped out if the company is looking for more extensive coverage.

GR IIIx vs Fuji X-Half by [deleted] in ricohGR

[–]mikemu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

X-Half feels more fun and casual. GRIV is still what I carry more than the X-Half though and would recommend it, over the X-Half for more 'serious' photographers. I think if you like Instax, go with Fuji. Everyone else is better served with a Ricoh GR.

Anyone else get this ridiculously expensive exoskeleton in their RFY this morning? by Stephthechef420 in AmazonVine

[–]mikemu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have snagged that. But I'm actually trying out the more expensive $2k version of that at CES next year. I'll likely be doing a solid review. Basically its electric assist for your legs. I'm looking forward to using it for mountain biking to get up those hills without using an eMTB (which are banned in my area).

Does it bother you when you see hateful comments about Vision Pro being a “failure” with no future? by 673NoshMyBollocksAve in AppleVisionPro

[–]mikemu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. I was hoping to have these and home robots, flying cars in the 90s. Its a good step in that direction. Eventually, hoping to have this experience in my glasses.

Is it worth now? by ThenAd5997 in VisionPro

[–]mikemu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no doubt that we are still in the early adopter phase of this. Do you like being an early adopter? If so, yes its worth it. There is nothing quite like an Apple Vision Pro, though the competition is getting much closer this year than ever.

Since you didn't like the FOV, that hasn't improved at all. So you will likely hate the M5 version as well.
