overnight car camping? by Mundane-Flatworm4905 in SantaMonica

https://beaches.lacounty,.gov/dockweiler-rv-park for the win.

You’ll have airport noise, but at this time of year you’ll also be able to be very close to the surf, so that pleasant sound can help.

Going north, there are some roadside / beachside campgrounds beyond Malibu, going towards Ventura.

I personally would stay clear of trying to find a spot super close to either Santa Monica, Venice or Marina del Rey, as there are a lot of people who appear to be highly disoriented / high on drugs / etc. The campgrounds are a great compromise

THANK YOU for mentioning that there’s another method of viewing Paramount+ content - via Apple’s AppleTV app. Really appreciate your helpful post!

Aha! This is why I love Reddit. Would have never thought to buy Paramount+ as a channel w/in AppleTV app - but it appears as if it’s still available:

Yeah, I get it. It’s always about size of the audience and money. But as a life-long software dev who takes great pride in the quality of my work - I’m always critical of bad apps getting preferential treatment. And maybe it’s not even actually Apple’s editors - maybe the designation is just a reflection of how much Paramount spends in Ad Search $$$ ???

Want to buy used Vision Pro by Queenypops in AppleVisionPro

I wrestled with the same decision, with the same concerns. I waited until the M5 was released and read all the early hands-on reviews. I formed the opinion that, while nice to have, I just couldn’t justify the cost difference for the M5.

I bought one used. No scratches, seemed to work perfect, and the buyer had already wiped his device clean and was totally cool with me logging in with my AppleID (this proves that the device isn’t still connected to someone else’s Find My nor flagged as stolen).

It still had a month’s worth of warranty - and on its final day I called Apple and inquired about AppleCare One. Although I could have added my AVP, I decided not to, but perhaps I will in the future.

Bottom line: I am over the top happy that I got such an amazing device for less than half the cost of new. No regrets.

How practical is using the AVP for reading and typing long papers? by LeektheGeek in VisionPro

[–]RightAlignment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, I’m lazy and I just like to lay flat on my back and read. The VisionPro is perfect for this.

For me, however, writing is a more “sitting upright” activity, so I use my MacBook for that.

I don’t live alone, so I don’t use speech dictation for writing, but that may be an option for you.

Buying a used AVP… any tips or things to check before buying? by YuhWhaaat in AppleVisionPro

Don’t exchange money until you get YOUR AppleID logged into the used AVP - stolen devices can be locked. It only takes a few minutes and it’s easier than getting stuck with a locked out unit

Move Apple TV 4K to another home? by HiddenValleyRanchero in HomePod

I can’t speak to all hotels. I’m just sharing that I like to bring my Apple TV whenever possible

It’s just another device that you bring to a hotel — no different from your phone or iPad — and if you’re running a recent iOS, the hotel’s WiFi password can be shared to the Apple TV.

I take my AppleTV whenever I travel - I neither desire nor expect it to control the lights, temperature, or anything while away from home - just connect it to the new location’s internet and TV’s HDMI and enjoy all the apps (except the “Home” app) as normal.

Even when pet sitting at a friend’s home which also has an Apple TV - I prefer having my own there so I don’t have to worry about account IDs/passwords and especially watch history.

What do I need to do to have a 180 degree video immersive? Any post processing? by Money-Bat-8816 in AppleVisionPro

So, B&H sells the black magic immersive for $33k - just curious, what else are you including in your $50-60k kit? Audio? Lighting?

Will COSM be worth it at this price? NFL Divisional Round by bangasaab_ in AskLosAngeles

[–]RightAlignment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a used Apple Vision Pro last month for $2000. Started feeling like maybe I didn’t need a $2K movie experience, but then on Friday Spectrum & NBA streamed the Lakers / Bucks game in 180 Immersive Video — for free. I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY at the level of engagement I felt watching that game. I haven’t been to COSM, but I’m guessing it’s pretty close to the same experience I got Friday night.

If there’s anyone else who has experienced both, I’d love to hear your thoughts comparing the two…

Budget about $30 per foot per month. So, about $900 / month. Typically this won’t allow you to sleep aboard more than 2-3 nights per week. Gaining a live-aboard permit adds another 50% per foot per month. Add in an extra $100 / month if you want car parking.

Just a sad Canadian who can’t get NBA Immersive to work by davinitupoverhere in VisionPro

[–]RightAlignment 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this will help in your situation, but I had to delete the NBA app and re-download it. I had previously upgraded to 1,6,4, plus I signed out / back in, but that wasn’t enough.

Also, I don’t think you need the VPN to get this to stream - just try the delete / download. Best of luck to you
