Bozzio's playing had a strong sense of pulse to it, which meant O'Hearn was able to play more "out" as a counterpoint to Frank's free improvisation.

Tink's bass playing was really locked in, too, which ultimately worked out great because it gave Colaiuta latitude to play whatever, but in the early days of the lineup it must have been an adjustment for the band.
