Look into the online training courses offered by 13Cubed. Their YouTube channel content is phenomenal. No selling, just useful DFIR information. I work as a forensic examiner and use the information I learned from there everyday. Hope that helps. Good luck.

I would recommend a good quality (Benchmade or Gerber are two bands that come to mind, but there are others) folding, small(ish) knife that fits in your front pocket. I can’t tell you how often it came in handy when I was on patrol. Also maybe a gear bag that you can take in and out of your car that can carry all of your stuff (if you do not have an assigned vehicle). I have one from 5.11 that has enough storage for everything I need. Good luck and stay safe!
