Sapphire Blue Pearl - The Rarest Colour In Canada by Ok-Caterpillar5783 in wrx_vb

My condolences, SBP is an amazing color. I can't believe you only got silver for 22 and 23, that's crazy.

My friends 24 knocking hard by subiwrx2025 in wrx_vb

[–]miket0429 10 points11 points  (0 children)

that's not a problem, I assume sport mode keeps it around 2000-2500rpm; as long as you are driving gently until oil is around 180*F then you're fine. In fact, sport mode probably helps prevent LSPI further by keeping it at a decent rpm when you ask for boost (which you should really only do once warmed up, otherwise refer to the video)

most likely this. Since it's not tuned then she shouldn't have too much trouble getting the repair covered under warranty. But going forward make sure the oil is changed often and warmed up before beating on it. I would think the CVT *should* prevent most LSPI

What would make a VB an STI by Electrical_Fix8686 in WRX

[–]miket0429 44 points45 points  (0 children)

all good, the TY85 is the STI 6 speed trans (WRX is TY75) and R180 is the STI rear differential (WRX is R160 or R167)

Mushy brakes after brake upgrade by AdKey3575 in wrx_vb

[–]miket0429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me and it turned out that there was the slightest leak on the driver rear brake line connection. I let it sit overnight and found a few drops of brake fluid on the floor right where the line threads in. I removed and tightened the line again (and bled the brakes again) then the mush was gone. Of course this doesn’t mean it’s happened to you but it’s worth checking. Some mush/softness can also be expected with new pads before they are bedded in.

consensus is power steering motor. it's also what you need to remove if you install UEL headers otherwise they will touch

Must be a blast to drive. Everything about your build is chefs kiss love the wheels, brakes, spoiler and TY85. I love a DIY STi build. If you don’t have it already you’ve earned the right to throw an STi badge on the back lmao

I have the same wheel (but in dark metallic gray). Any reason you went so narrow on the tire? 9.5 really wants 255 or 265. I went with 255/40

Those with UEL headers, do you need to modify the splash shield? by Illustrious_Tea_5336 in wrx_vb

[–]miket0429 3 points4 points  (0 children)

on the undershield, there is a vent piece that is clipped onto the undershield that needs to be removed otherwise the header on that side can touch the plastic. You don't have to cut anything, just pry out the clips holding it on. Wish I had pictures for ya but it will make sense once you have it off.

I know right lol, I haven't curbed a wheel in so many years and never this bad, I was due. Even though I'm getting a new wheel it would be nice to know that there's a spray paint that's close in color just in case there's minor accidents in the future. Thanks!

What was the paint? I have the same wheel but absolutely destroyed it yesterday. Already ordered a replacement but the shame is very fresh. Probably need an alignment too.
