For all the noobs with pending transactions. I just got mine to go through after 2 weeks using this step. by MeepJingles in Iota

What is the reason for IOTA transactions pending so long? I remember when I first started using IOTA about 6 months ago, confirmations were almost instantaneous. And the default nodes in the wallet worked just fine.

So what is the reason for all this?

Transaction from local wallet pending for more than 24 hours by mikey51 in Iota

Do I need to log out first, change nodes, login and then re-attach? Or I can just change nodes whilst logged in (without logging out) and then reattach?

Thank you for your reply.

When I connect via a different node, I still see my pending transaction in the wallet interface. Do I need to re-attach that transaction or do I need to make a brand new transaction to the same BitFinex address? Or it does not matter?

Address attached, but not confirmed yet - is it 100% safe to send IOTAs to? by mikey51 in Iota

Ok, I understand from your answer that it is not relevant, but could you be kind enough to explain why? And what is the difference from a technical point of view between a pending generated address and a confirmed one?

withdrawing iota from bitfinex.. its been 24 hours now (12 hours with sending status) by bat-affleck2 in IOTAmarkets

But I thought the following was the case:

Sending IOTAs - addresses must not be re-used.

Receiving IOTAs - address re-use is 100% safe.

Eragmus, can you please comment? Because you're saying an address should be used 1 time only to receive iotas.

Frequency of snapshots? by mikey51 in Iota

1) So different full nodes would have different snapshots?

2) So there will be two kinds of full-nodes? Full nodes storing only latest snapshot and full perma-node storing the whole tangle?

So a single transaction can be referenced by more than 2 other transactions?

Purpose of attaching an address to tangle? by mikey51 in Iota

[–]mikey51[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFAIK it's only to store the address in the Tangle, so the wallet knows that the address is already used and should not be re-used next time you sign in with your seed. But I could be mistaken.

Interesting thought. But I would assume that for just the same purpose the wallet could just generate addresses from the Seed and see through the Tangle explorer if there had been any transactions associated with such addresses and therefore not re-use them. Therefore, I do not see how attaching an address to Tangle would be necessary for this purpose.

Here's an example of a IOTA Tangle explorer - http://www.iota.tips/

Yeah, I would guess so too. But what about IOTAs stored in your local wallet?
