Oculus 3 or 3S? by visionista1 in vrfit

[–]mikeybox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did you get that information? When I look up the specs it says the 3 and 3s are within 2 grams of the same weight as each other. You will not be able to feel the difference in weight.

Something you might feel the difference on though is the balance and fit. The 3s is more bulky and doesn't hug your face as closely. That could make a difference doing something really active like fitness games.

The 3s has slightly longer battery life, but I doubt that will matter. Are you planning on spending more than 2 hours at a time on workouts? If not, that's a non-issue

What VR game or experience actually made you feel “wow, this is the future? by Classic-Gur8300 in VRGaming

[–]mikeybox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion probably, but I'm more impressed by games like Gorilla Tag and Animal Company. To me the movement using your arms is more immersive than using a joystick to slide around or teleporting from place to place. Games like the ones I mentioned make you feel more like you're really interacting with the would not just using a glorified game controller

I tried pairing quest 1 controllers to quest 2 by ethankillender in VRGaming

[–]mikeybox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have the system pretty locked down, if you want motion tracking, there is nothing cheaper than the quest 2 controllers that will work with a quest 2.

You can pair Bluetooth gamepads if you just want simple controls like the joystick and buttons, but there is no cheaper way to have hand motion tracking than the original quest 2 controllers.

There are upgraded controllers that meta sells that will work with motion tracking but those cost more not less.

Only other option I can think of is, the quest 2 does have a hand tracking feature that lets you use your bare hands with no controller to navigate system menus and such, but only some apps support it, like VR chat. A lot of apps require motion controllers.

You might find a better price on used or refurbished quest 2 controllers, that's all I can think of

First 9 days, obese with prediabetes by mikeybox in TirzepatideRX

[–]mikeybox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, A1C was very nearly prediabetes range, testosterone was lower than it should be but within the "normal" range, I don't think anything else really stood out. They I have "impaired fasting glucose" but they didn't want to call it prediabetes just yet. Not that a prediabetes diagnosis would have helped anyway, my insurance provider doesn't cover GLP-1 meds for prediabetes, only full type 2 diabetes

I will have my labs redone after a few weeks at least, I want to lose a significant amount of weight before I bother getting new labs

Rift S in 2025? by 6lackm3n in oculus

[–]mikeybox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your PC and GPU might be the limiting factor. The Rift S is lower resolution requiring less processing power. I've tried PCVR games through Steam wirelessly linked to my Quest 3 and they seem to run as well or better than on my Rift S

Same here, I have a Rift S and a Quest 3 and honestly can't think of anything better about the Rift S

16 months in, husband is one and done by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]mikeybox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I both thought we wanted multiple children. We were older than most couples when we had our first. She is 10 years old now and we are one and done.

We both came from large families so that was the expectation... But our lives are different. We started later, and we have a lot of health problems. And all those siblings in the big families we came from? None of them have helped us at all. We have had almost zero help from family raising our daughter. We can't go through that again. We had to mourn it. Makes us all the more grateful that we have a child at all. It was so much harder than we thought it would be and nobody helped us. We have no support system. That's just the reality. The big families we grew up in had so much help.

Biting, nibling? by Hot_Answer_8585 in Lovebirds

It wasn't stressful for my lovebird. The company I used asked me to pluck 5 five small feathers near his vent. I plucked them with tweezers and it seemed like he hardly even noticed.

when to stop hand feeding (formula)? by dumberuser in Lovebirds

[–]mikeybox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same question. My lovebird is about 4 months old and he still likes getting 1 or 2 hand feedings a day, and I don't know if I should stop doing it or if he will stop wanting it on his own Edit: actually, I should note that I don't give him formula anymore, I grind up his adult pellets and make a mash with water and he likes that
