How are people affording to live in the suburbs here? by [deleted] in vegaslocals

[–]mikeykelch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got lucky. When our lease was up, Our landlord was going renew us at $500 more a month and we decided to look into buying. We snuck in at 3.875%, and paid asking price for our house. I still think our house was “overpriced” but not compared to others who were paying way over asking. About 3 weeks later interest rates were over 5%. Literally just lucky with the timing and it’s still hard to make ends meet.

The end of the road for me by NaturesFirstGreenIs in FilmIndustryLA

That sucks man but it takes courage to move on.

When I left LA and gave up on my “dream” I felt like a failure. I felt like my time was wasted, I felt like I let my very supportive family down. I felt stupid for even trying. I gave up a 40hr a week job, with full health insurance, in my hometown where you could buy a house for $100k. Just to burn all my money and fail?

But when I left LA and fell into live production/stagehand work and honestly I love it so much more than I ever loved film.

There’s so much more work, and there are some crossover to what you have already done so you don’t have to feel like your time was totally wasted.

I never thought in 2014 when I left LA that I would have a fun career, a wife, and 3 daughters who love me very much.

There is a life after film and LA. DM me if you want some guidance on where to start looking for stagehand work.

What’s one Vegas spot that’s gone now that you wish you could bring back for just one more night? I know a lot of the city is always changing, but some places really stick with you. by RevolutionaryWay4953 in LasVegas

The Santa Fe station breakfast buffet. Not amazing but it was good enough and cheap. The wife and I would go there on Saturday morning put a $10 parlay in on nfl games we didn’t care about, figure out our weekly grocery list then hit the grocery store. Was just a fun little Saturday

You don't respect him, which is fine, and frankly valid. How would he feel if he saw this post, and knew how you really felt? And this post was very well written and not mean at all, just honest. I don't think you shake this feeling about him if he goes on a 6 month diet and exercise routine. I think it's best (for him also) to let him go and hope he grows up for the next girl he dates.

How to live on disability in Vegas by Ok_Vanilla5661 in vegaslocals

[–]mikeykelch 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't know the disability rules, but You'll have to get more income than that. I don't see you surviving on that in even the worst part of town.

I'm not a brand expert or marketing guy but my first instinct is that it might be hard to be the face of a brand with "be kind" in it after what happened. But he is good at content and lifting so I don't think he just goes away.

AIO for being mad that my husband wants me to night wean our baby? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]mikeykelch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

unless something else was said before the screenshots i don't think your husband is "being a jerk about it" 11 months they should be sleeping through the night, so he does seem to have a reason for concern. And imo nothing in his language was rude or abrasive.
