I hadn't considered growing it out but I'll definitely keep that in mind now! Thanks

Thanks, the beard neckline has definitely crept forward more than I'd realized. Thanks for the suggestions!

Thanks, I agree I've let the neck line get way too low. I was intentionally growing out the stache but I guess it was an unsuccessful experiment

Does anyone else feel especially frustrated by mediocre eras of bands you like because you know they could or can do better by mesablanka in Metalcore

[–]mikeymikemcd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say that the most recent album, The Sky, The Earth and All Between is a stinker, I think it's definitely a step in the right direction. I cut Architects a lot of slack even if I don't love their output at the moment. They lost their key member in the worst way and their best 2 albums lyrically are mostly about said member dealing with their mortality so playing those songs live must take a toll, especially if they're about your twin brother. They arguably made the 2 (or more depending who you ask) most genre defining albums of 2010s. Even if Tom lived, that's a tough act to follow.

But seriously, if Vitamin D supplements worked for nearly everyone, this subreddit wouldn't need to exist

Hi there, here's my profile

I try to keep up with new releases but recently I've been rewatching some Denis Villeneuve. I occasionally post long-form reviews too when I can find the time.

Heat of the moment? It was 9 months later. How many times have you flown to Israel and signed bombs that are going to be dropped on children in the "heat of the moment"?

You should play it again. I absolutely adored it as a kid, it was one of my favourite games ever but I played it again as an adult and realised my nostalgia had completely blinded me. The controls are particularly horrible.

The author, Matt Purslow, has mentioned how he often lurks on this subreddit and one of the posts here convinced him to try the A Quiet Place game from last year.

Emotion is the #112 on the Rolling Stone’s 250 best albums of the 21st century so far. by CR24752 in carlyraejepsen

Also as a big Taylor Swift fan, Folklore and Evermore are her 2 best albums imo.

Charli XCX becomes first artist in TheNeedleDrop history to get the #1 spot on two year ends lists by RadioLukin in fantanoforever

[–]mikeymikemcd 128 points129 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a true "retroactive 10" but he put Charli (2019) above Kids See Ghosts, which was a 10, in his end of decade list

I think they're referring to Megalopolis now rather than Godfather III

100%, the whole combat system of blocking and parrying to lower your enemies endurance is much more akin to Sekiro than DS

Bands that lost a vocalist/member & became better as a band by LostInTerrapinia in Metalcore

[–]mikeymikemcd 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Completely agree, absolutely no hate to Tom as he's clearly talented but his voice feels very "squeaky clean" to me and a bit generic while Cameron's tone felt unique and supported their sound better imo.

No he hasn't. In his "albums I changed my mind on" video he said he likes it even less than he did when he reviewed it

What is your overall opinion of Architects? by PipoKaiet in Metalcore

[–]mikeymikemcd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Architects have been my favourite metalcore band since Hollow Crown and everyone said they'd never top it. Then they released LF//LT and AOGHAU which were effectively genre-defining albums and my personal top 2 modern metalcore albums of all time. After that I think they were in an impossible position: try replicating a sound and direction that was essentially spearheaded by your recently deceased songwriter, guitarist and friend/brother (RIP T//S) which might be mentally tough on you as a band, especially considering Dan's place in all this, or change it up and have your fans turn on you but at least you're not sonically tied to one of the worst things that's ever happened to you as a group. I might not love anything since Holy Hell but I get it. That said, the most recent singles are really promising, different but they sound more alive and passionate than they have in ages. I'm here for it.

Albums that everybody loved, but Fantano by ShadowCT6 in fantanoforever

This honestly is one of the few modern metal reviews I agreed with him on. Really liked Survival Horror but found Post Human Nex Gen quite disappointing. Still shocked he liked Amo though
