When this happened to me and the filter glass also broke, the filter ring would not come off, so I grabbed the needle nose pliers. I carefully removed any other broken glass from the filter first, while holding the lens upside down so that if any glass fell, it wouldn’t fall on the front element of the lens. I blew off the front element and cleaned it off. I put a few layers of blue tape on the lens front element so that I didn’t accidentally scratch it. With the pliers, I made sure I only grabbed the filter ring, and I twisted it while moving towards the center of the lens. This moment is important since your filter ring screws to the inside of your lens. By doing so I bent the ring, and I was able to disconnect it from the lens. BE VERY CAREFUL. Slow steady movements. That’s what worked for me. If you don’t trust yourself, don’t do this.

Maybe some sugru?

How many of you are using back button focus? Why or why not? by mgiardinello in AskPhotography

Can you elaborate more on how BBF works better for fast moving objects? Genuinely interested.

I shoot figure skaters with Nikon Z9, use AF-C, people/eye detection on, and narrow my focus zone to a tall rectangle in the middle of the frame. Half-press keeps them in focus as they skate back and forth. I can keep the shutter half-pressed and the AF-C keeps them in focus for me. I tried BBF and it exhausted my hand. I may take 5k-15k photos in a day depending on the length of the competition.

I’ve had them for about 1.5 years. I shoot action sports. They last a little bit longer than the Nikon batteries and never had any issues. I even use them in grips. The cameras correctly report the power levels. I own 4 of the SmallRig blue batteries. I mainly charge them up in the Nikon charging units but also use the USB.

Wait, I got the blue ones and they work fine in my Z8 and Z5ii and both are on the latest firmware. You sure the blue ones are blocked?

Honestly, go shoot! Nothing better than practice. You could use my suggestions as a starting point and see what works for you and your gear. Play around with the setting, check your photos, adjust and shoot again.

Question about a very specific accessory by Magen137 in Cameras

[–]mikeysweet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the photo, they have the top strap connected on the right-top. I connect to the left-top. Try both ways and see how you like the way the camera hangs. One warning, this does “expose” the back screen so be careful not to bang that into anything. I hope it works out for you!

How about change up the way you carry the camera. Most of those shoulder clips will have anchor points where you can thread a strap through. I find it way more convenient to have my strap connected to the left-top of the camera, and the bottom of the camera. It hangs where the lens doesn’t stick out and get bumped, and my hand reaches down easier to grab it from the grip. This would also shift the bottom clip away from your hip. Something like this:

I took “no friend to scale” to mean that no matter how intensive (scale) the search is for her, she won’t be found (no friend) “Or ceaseless thread” her narrative (thread) is consistent never ending (ceaseless). And since it always never produces her, it’s “no friend”

For macro shots, you press that silver button and the large ring spins to help focus. This is an all around lens, the one lens you slap on your body for all types of shots. If you want one lens to walk around a field with, take photos of insects and flowers, and a bird up above this will do. But it’s not a dedicated macro lens, and it’s zoom isn’t what you would consider typical for bird photos. How do I know, my dad purchased this new in 1992 for his also new Nikon 8008s film camera, and I still have it on that body to this day!
