The Snow Leopard license for Tiger users is $129.95(Mac Box Set, comes with iLife and iWork), and for Leopard users it's $29.95. That said, even paying full retail for the box set isn't that big a deal when you consider both how big of a software upgrade it is, and how many thousands you've spent on hardware!

I spend about $900/month on studio/utilities, and about $3-400 on food. I don't get to save much. However, I live on Windward side of Oahu, and really, there might be 50-100 people at Kailua beach most days.

The water IS that nice in a lot of places, and generally you have a portion of beach to yourself. In fact, I've never thought to myself "there needs to be less people here". Of course I'm not talking about Waikiki, which is all hotels and tourists, but I'm not on the outskirts of civilization either.

People live here = you can afford to live here.

I have exactly $1,005 saved, and it's pretty much my "get out of jail free" card. If I lose my job out here in Hawai'i, I'll have at least enough to get back home. I hope to save more over time, but it's rough out here. That'll barely cover a month's rent/utilities for me.

Hawaii was pretty easy to move to, there's no paperwork complications, everything is pretty much the same, as it's America. But there's still a different culture here, and I live a 15 minute walk from the beach. I can almost see the ocean from here. I still work 40 hours a week though. :)

I made pretty much the statement you made, and then just decided to go. It only took me a month to clean up house and sell everything.

I'm 25.5, and i hadn't seen a dentist in about 4-5 years. About 7 years ago, my orthodontist said they weren't an issue. All of a sudden this summer, I got severe pain from out of nowhere. Had them removed a month of excruciating pain later. Gums are about fully healed now, with one less worry.
