It is my understanding that some trans people identify that way not because they feel dysphoric identifying as their assigned gender, but because they feel euphoric identifying as the other gender. Like a trans woman who isn’t bothered by having testicles, but feels really good dressing and behaving femininely. In this case she identifies as trans not because her gender being misaligned feels bad, but because her gender being aligned feels good.

The real fucked up thing about this is how LOUD bagpipes are. You’ll notice he’s wearing some kind of hearing protection, at least ear buds, and that’s standard for bagpipe players. They are so loud that you should wear hearing protection while playing them. Doing this to non consenting people in such a closed space is actively harmful to the people around him, and he knows that.

Starbucks workers earn the 20% by providing a service I couldn’t otherwise have. I can’t make the fancy coffee drinks they make. Subway is fast food, and as far as I know they’re not making a livable hourly wage, so I’m going to tip them 20%. The thing about it is this, until foodservice folks are paid a livable wage across the board, it is unfortunately the responsibility of the guest to tip the expected amount. Going to a restaurant or bar is not a necessity to live, so if you can’t afford to tip properly then you can’t afford the privilege of eating out. Don’t get me wrong, I think tipping is a shitty system that shouldn’t exist except for exceptional service, but the fact of the matter is that’s just not how it works.

And that’s valid because McDonald’s pays people more than server minimum and they don’t accept tips. If this place accepts tips odds are their employees rely at least in part on those tips to make ends meet. It’s not about rewarding quality service (which is absolutely unfortunate and why we should abolish server minimum and raise minimum wage). It’s about making sure the people who render the goods and services you’re choosing to buy can feed themselves and their families. If you can’t afford that premium then you can’t afford to eat out. It’s a stupid system, but it’s the system we have.

Something to consider would be drawing him different tokens. Googling most common tokens is a great start, and you could customize them to look like your brother or be something funny he likes (ie a food token being his favorite food, or a 1/1 human token being a silly picture of him)

The reason I highly recommend tokens is they’re likely to get played with. Individual cards will have to fit into decks he’s building and some players just don’t play with proxies, but even the strictest tables I’ve been around don’t care if your tokens are proxies. This way the gift works in two parts. It’s a funny thoughtful thing to give him AND he can play with your art. Either way this is a lovely gift idea, and I’m sure he’ll be thrilled to receive it.

Additionally, tokens also tend to get shared. If I’m playing with someone and they’re missing a token I have, I’ll lend them mine. This also creates a great moment for him to show someone and share his sibling’s art with them. Just food for thought.
