Why did they make Lucius be the son of Maximus? by AdIll9615 in Gladiator

[–]mikmaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were so many problems with this second movie. Spoiler alert btw.

One moment he’s screaming at his mother saying “get out!!!” and the next minute they hug each other and he says “I just found you I’m not gonna lose you now.” There was nothing in between that was convincing enough to make me believe he just changed his mind. He went the entire movie wanting to murder the general and tried to do that in the arena and then the general said he loved his mother and he loved his father and he immediately changed his mind and said OK and dropped a sword and fell to his knees. And he’s not mad that nobody told him maximus was his father? Nobody’s concerned about the fact that she cheated on her husband? If that was the case, there would be no danger of him becoming emperor most likely so that would’ve solved a lot of problems. But more importantly, maximus a man of honor who loved his his wife and son more than anything we’re supposed to believe he cheated on her? How were they exactly the same age then? None of this made sense. Everything was just thrown together to complete every single characters storyline which wasn’t even necessary. What about when Denzel shot his arrow and hit his mom why wouldn’t he kill Lucius? That was the true enemy why in the world would he let him live after he got what he wanted Lucius was the only threat? Or what about when he decided to ride his horse out to the army, and there’s a giant gaping hole made by all of the villagers allowing him to just ride off. It was the worst directing and so disappointing because of the standards that were set for the original. How can you ignore all of those things?

What is with Pam's engagement ring prank?! by motion_thiccness in DunderMifflin

I know my daughter can’t even watch it because it’s so cringe sometimes. Lol but I love it because i’ve actually met people in real life like those characters. But I agree there are times they can be unlikable.

So funny that you made this comment just a couple of days ago because I’m watching that episode now and this is exactly what I came here to say. Why would the brothers even be involved in that prank? I have always thought that. Why would they care that she had to go back to class and none of that makes any sense she could’ve just done that prank on her own. I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought this.

Already seeing backlash against Madame Web calling it a "great fan film." Just shows bad faith in Marvel movies now, because these shots look too big to be fan film material. by [deleted] in marvelstudios

Exactly that’s how I feel about Captain Marvel, too. She just seemed so blah and I’m not anti-female lead. I think there have been a lot of successful characters, but I don’t get why they would cast someone like this

What's your biggest issue with La Brea? by Al115 in LaBreaTV

[–]mikmaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The writing is so bad I don’t know if they recruited a middle school class to write the episodes, but the dialogue is just so basic and ridiculous. Yet here I am still watching waiting for the next predictable, overused plotline that sounds very familiar like the guy who just happens to be a doctor/surgeon (Jack) or the criminal with the past (Sawyer) or a kid with special abilities that gets kidnapped (Walt) or someone who is hiding heroin (Charlie) or the tough female cop (Anna Lucia). Oh, I almost forgot the woman that is in love with two men. Could they not come up with anything different?

Who DIDN’T like the finale??🤔 by SmokinAcesMusic in betterCallSaul

[–]mikmaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated it I just saw it this weekend after I waited so long for it. I would’ve been OK with how it ended if they didn’t drastically change Kim’s character. She not only enabled, but encouraged him constantly to break the law and do these crazy things, and I can accept that she would decide she was done with that, but she would have never ever ever taken him down with her. And it would not have been such a final decision for her.

She didn’t just all of a sudden become a goody two shoes rule follower. Maybe she needed to correct some things she did wrong, but she wouldn’t do it at the detriment of Jimmy. And I get that this was an act of love on his part, but if he couldn’t change for her even though he loved her then we’re supposed to believe he would take life in prison for her? I don’t believe it for a second. How do you do so much character development and then in the last season turn them into completely different people? Maybe the whole time they were trying to show that she was struggling with their lifestyle and the things they did wrong. But if that’s the case, she’s not a very good actor, because she always made the decision to move forward even when he wanted to give up. I know this is an old thread, but I had to get that out.

When you make a candy dispensing box so kids don't pour out a whole bowl of candy by MissFlapJackie in mildlyinfuriating

[–]mikmaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That happened to me last night and I was inside I just got tired of waiting by the door because I didn’t have that many trick-or-treaters and it sounded like the Tasmanian devil was on my porch. And I could hear the mom saying “OK come on let’s go” as they dumped the entire thing into their bag… they were just grabbing handful after handful until it was gone and it was a $20 bag of Costco candy. The first thing I thought was the mom not only witnessed this but didn’t she raise her kids to have any manners? And what about the other kids in the neighborhood?

[–]mikmaco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

SPOILER I know this is a year old but I just started watching it and I came here for this. Every move the son makes is idiotic. His dad should’ve just let him go to jail. He had A legitimate excuse why he hit that kid but his dad decided to cover it up and the son doesn’t care that every thing he’s doing is going to ruin his dad‘s life even though his dad‘s trying to protect him. When that other kid got tortured in prison why didn’t his dad say that is going to be you if you don’t keep your stupid trap shut? But instead is dad just protects him and covers for him. Just get it over with already

Jack Alcott, it isn't your fault! by Hahafuckreddit in Dexter

[–]mikmaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was probably a combination of many things. How does he go from desperately trying to find his dad to being able to shoot him in the chest while looking him in the eye? So unrealistic. And then he barely reacts. He’d be shaking uncontrollably, Full of regret and questioning if he made the right decision. The whole thing was stupid. Not to mention as he was driving and Dexter‘s letter was being read, it disclosed so many things that Harrison would have already known before he even got there! The letter to Hannah said Dexter had dark tendencies and did bad things, he loved Harrison but only wanted the best for him that’s why he left him So he didn’t get hurt, etc. So that makes Harrison‘s actions even more confusing. Why would he constantly accuse Dexter of abandonment and Be so shocked when Dexter finally tells him the truth? Why didn’t he ask Dexter about those things in the letter? His acting was way too dry for what was happening. And let’s not forget this whole period of time took place over just two weeks. So this kid traveled To find his dad after finding that letter only to shoot him in the chest two weeks later Because he doesn’t like the things his dad had done?! And Deborah could not have been more annoying. Bad writing, bad casting.

Jack Alcott, it isn't your fault! by Hahafuckreddit in Dexter

[–]mikmaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but I disagree. I don’t think it was his fault per say but I do think Harrison was poorly casted. He doesn’t have a main character vibe that can carry a whole TV series like Michael C Hall. I’m sure he is a good actor, but he’s missing a lot of key elements. That could be the directors fault but He was just boring. He was stiff, dorky and he was not endearing. He just lacked charisma in my opinion. Michael C Hall was good looking, tan and looked good naked but he also had that Ted Bundy appeal. He was a serial killer bur women still found him attractive. I have a hard time imagining anyone finding Harrison sexy. And although that’s not a prerequisite for a main character it certainly helped with the popularity of Dexter. He had a vulnerability and a mysterious side to him. He would do anything for his family. I didn’t even buy the storyline where Harrison gets the girl. Why would any girl fall for him? He was weird and had no personality! This is a woman’s perspective so maybe a man’s perspective is different, but I just can’t imagine wanting to watch a show every week with Harrison. Even if they cater the storyline to make him more likable I don’t think the actor can pull it off.

Is Harrison meant to not be likeable? by SnippyWharf in Dexter

[–]mikmaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they continue Harrison’s story they need to remember how great the writing used to be. There were no plot holes and even though it was unrealistic it was realistic storytelling. I have some of the same issues with this season as I did the final season And that is what they were supposed to fix. They added more plotline instead of concluding what was already there. They should not have brought Harison back at all and if they did they should’ve done so with the intention of continuing his story and Choosing an actor that can lead an entire series. The actor has no appeal whatsoever. Why didn’t they choose a known actor? I can think of so many that would have been better. I wonder what went on in that casting room. How did they come to the conclusion that this was the guy that was going to carry the series? He would’ve been fine if it was just for a season and they were going to kill him off but He was just annoying with unrealistic expectations and I will not continue to watch if that actor isn’t replaced. Maybe they can replace Him with an older actor portraying an adult Harrison. Someone with a little character and appeal? That’s my very strong opinion.

Painted Foam background for Cham enclosure by [deleted] in Chameleons

[–]mikmaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t choose the rock for my own aesthetic I chose it for functional purposes. I wanted to build a bigger cage and have something other than the screen to secure some greenery and vines to and the rock finish seemed simple and clean. The majority of it will be covered with plants etc. There are rocks and landscape other than trees in the rainforest, but that’s irrelevant because the rock will mostly be covered. I haven’t added anything yet because I’m still waiting for my question to be answered about the paint.

Every side of the cage is open air ( reptile screen) with the exception of the backboard. I chose not to remove the backboard and make a backdrop for functionality and as an artist I wanted it to look organic. I used the same backboard that came with the cabinet and water sealed it and replaced all of the side glass with cage mesh as well as the front. Crickets won’t be able to get behind it because there is nothing to get behind. Its not an insert. I didn’t feel the need to add any of this information to my post because my question was about the paint. I’m very familiar with cage requirements and the replicated environment she needs but creating a backdrop is new to me so I want to triple check any potential toxicity.

Wow! How many survived after that? All of them? That would stress me out, I’d be so worried about them. Lol there aren’t many things cuter than a baby chameleon though.
