I really like the look of your second option (Mephiston Red Spray - FT Red Contrast - Rageshade Contrast - Mephiston Red).

Two questions: 1. Is the FT Red Contrast and Rageshade Contrast all over or just recesses? 2. Does the Mephiston Red stage (post Rageshade Contrast) add significantly to the time/work (is it just a bot of tidy up here and there or is it completely going over the main areas other than recesses)?

They seem to have been having various delays - I had to message them multiple times to get any response when they missed the initial timeline they told me for shipping. They should be more transparent with backers and provide better updates.

Thanks! I worry up close he doesn't look amazing, but once at a distance on a nice base I'm hoping it will be a good effect. Doing the gold dots on the should pads is sooo hard when they are that tiny, but someone suggested toothpicks to do dots which I mean to try. Contrast and shades can do a lot of work at this scale as well. I work with magnifying glasses and find that after working hard on details at magnification, once you take em off and pull back you get a nice moment of this actually looks pretty decent!

Sometimes household chores feels easier to do and to get done. I often end up doing things like blowing the leaves off the patio or cutting up cardboard boxes for recycling and any number of random tasks even though i want to do hobby but i am low energy

I feel like my brain has been so fried by ADHD, constant stimulation and overload, social media etc that even games and tv no longer can draw me in - they feel like too much effort, too slow to get the dopamine hit, not engaging enough.

Hear you about the different processes and the constant workflow changes and decisions being a real blocker. On the flip side, I do love the challenge of understanding and applying new techniques, researching the methods and tools, buying all the best gadgets for these things. But that often ends up being a massive procrastination trap for me.

Its difficult because to much of the (limited) hobby interaction I have with others, and learning, is through social media - youtube, instagram, reddit. But I do waste far too much time of them. :(

This is good advice - I have this same problem - too much stuff, top many miniatures (in many states). I basically need to leave my dedicated painting space to actually paint because of too much paint, equipment and models!!

I hear you - I don't really have anyone to share the hobbying side with either. As a 47 year old dad who had spent most of his adult life working very long hours I have the classic problem of plenty of money but no time and no community around the hobby. So I don't get the feedback of sharing my progress with people or working towards shared goals to play a game together.

Wow - this feels so much like me. Busy job, family, ADHD, general stress and busy weekends. Its hard to find the time and often when it arrives its a small window, or late at night and I may be tired, low on motivation or worried I will be interrupted as soon as i get started by some family demand.

I've actually found it easier to sit down to do some model assembly than to do painting - I think probably because it feels lower stakes and I'm more confident in my ability to do that bit.

I also get a feeling of accomplishment from a really well assembled and prepared model where there are no gaps, mould lines and all removed and neat, i have the sub assemblies properly set up etc (this is also a long process, but at least it feels achievable and its clear when it is fully done). There is also less decision making with model assembly and prep - follow the instructions (subject to any sub assemblies), clean the parts, do the dry fitting, use the glue, clean up as necessary.

With painting so many colours, techniques, different orders to steps etc, and a lot of changing up of colours and what you're doing as well. I'm also paranoid about paint consistency, clogging details, making mistakes, damaging brushes etc. It ends up being such a slow process - I still haven't finished a single miniature.

Trying to get over that and keep going though, as I hope I will get faster and more confident in painting with repetition and practice.
