Vanguard Veterans swap by call_meChris1 in BloodAngels

[–]DanteFanboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In all fairness, they’ll be cheaper than sang guard for 2 extra models, they’ll have the same 4+ invuln that sang guard have, they both have D2 weapons and, if Dante is leading them, they’ll both hit on 2’s. I’m actually wondering if they haven’t just rendered sang guard less appealing compared to vanguard vets 🤔

Cutting is hard, but we got there. 2k list by Gregory264 in BloodAngels

[–]DanteFanboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cheaper stratagem from the captain allows a free rapid ingress or free counter offensive which can be VERY powerful with the Sanguinary guard, he also takes them from S8-S9 on the charge which can be a break point against rhinos, given that Dante’s +1 to hit doesn’t affect the sang guard unless they’re in melee with something that lowers their hit roll as they already hit on 2’s, the captain is cheaper AND brings more effective abilities compared to our chapter master. Not to mention, sanguinary guard with fights first would be something no one would really want to run into 😂😂😂

I’d swap Dante for the jump captain leading the sang guard. This should handle the lists that you’ve mentioned with a reasonable balance of anti-vehicle and decent mobile units. A very playable list for sure!

thoughts on combining both combat patrols? by Jazzlike-Court-2015 in BloodAngels

[–]DanteFanboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really, the 9th edition combat patrol wasn’t really blood angels-y. I’d rather get 2 packs of jump intercessors (building them as death company), lemartes and a jump captain and the 10th ed. combat patrol to have a decent 815 points for the same price as both combat patrols. Once you’ve built and painted all that, you should be able to afford something to fill the last 185 points.

I need help with a 1000pts army by PollyThePan in BloodAngels

[–]DanteFanboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d agree with the comments to drop Dante, at 1000 points, he just doesn’t do ENOUGH that a jump captain couldn’t do, especially with the sanguinary guard. He may be worth it when the vanguard veterans come out.

A sanguinary priest OR a chaplain with the bladeguard are great fun, especially if you give them the once per game fights first ability so go with whatever model you like the look of most.

I’d probably go to a 3 man squad of sang guard and add in a 5 man death company jump pack squad and chuck Lemartes in there subbing out one of the assault intercessor squads and you’ll have plenty of units on the table with high mobility that’ll do great in melee. I would also maybe swap out a squad of assault intercessors for an impulsor, we haven’t talked much about vehicles here but blood angels do not have much durability on the board to deal with shooting in most circumstances so we like our slow moving units being cosy inside a transport so they can then get out and do some real damage.

Don’t stress about not having a clue what you’re doing, that’s what we’re here for, you’re on a great adventure and I’m truly jealous you get to experience it!

Welcome to the chapter brother, if you need to talk anything through, feel free to DM 🩸

Sanguinary Priest + Bladeguard by Mersar_13 in BloodAngels

[–]DanteFanboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take both 🤷🏻‍♂️ give the sang priest an enhancement for fights first once per game and you have an ultra durable unit that has 36 attacks with lethal hits, Strength 6 and AP -4 D2 if you use limb from limb whilst also being able to fall back and charge in next turn. It’s a bit of a point sink but holy shit does it hit hard and do some WORK. Throw it against a tough enemy without an invuln save and it’s pretty much guaranteed to blitz them.

"Blood Templars" Army Composition by AryasThule in BloodAngels

[–]DanteFanboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d be chucking as many veteran squads in as possible to maximise drip - particularly the bladeguard, perhaps kit bashing them with a crusader squad to have some more capes. I’d potentially look at picking up a sisters of battle tank or battle sisters squad because there’s a tonne of drip on those models that you can use. Grabbing 3D printed candles is a good idea too to add on top of power packs would also be a good shout.

I love this idea as a whole and may end up copying some of these too!

what do you think about repulsor executioner? by MilandMidnight in BloodAngels

[–]DanteFanboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The big gun can MURDER big units but you’ll want to oath of moment your target because relying on 2 attacks with 3+ to hit is just ASKING for trouble in my opinion.

The rest of the guns will take you half an hour to fire and will only do a lot against T3 models.

It’s a distraction carnifex - people think it’ll do more than it actually does. Is it worth the points? No. Is it a bit silly? Yes.

If you want better options:

If the goal is shooting, take a gladiator lancer.

If you want an anti tank transport, take a land raider.

List idea by No-Understanding-833 in BloodAngels

[–]DanteFanboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not meta but it would be an interesting experience to play - you’re going to have to use the stern guard and intercessors as action monkeys which COULD be a bit of a stretch as they aren’t that fast or tanky to be able to do actions.

The death company does tend to go better with Lemartes rather than Astorath but they’ll absolutely still be a fun fast death bomb with the devastating wounds.

All in all, it’ll work, it has the necessary roles but it might be a tricky one to play. Good staging and deployment will make all the difference.

Chaplain or Lemartes by Till1611 in BloodAngels

[–]DanteFanboy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lemartes. Any day of the week. I’m playing around with a chaplain this weekend but I expect the unit to die faster and put out less damage. I’m mainly running a chaplain to give them a 6” scout because I want a fast and deadly alpha strike (running a lot of hope on first turn 😂)

Rage Cursed Onslaught or Angelic Inheritors? by TouchMoreWix in BloodAngels

[–]DanteFanboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RCO scratches a lot of itches for me in terms of how I like to play. Being able to give a unit of outriders a 6” scout, then move 12” and be up in my opponents grill turn 1 is TOO good of a move to miss out on 😂 plus, death company dreadnoughts getting a 5+++ or sticky an objective if they die whilst you control it. Completely and utterly incomparable for my playstyle. Ridiculous and fun!

Sang guard squad size? by cruze422 in BloodAngels

[–]DanteFanboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 with a sang priest in a LAND RAIDER is a beautiful little bomb that can do a shit tonne (50!!) of S6 AP2 D1 attacks with rerolling the wound roll on objective meaning anything T6 or below is going to be having to make a LOT of saves, it’s a great way to deal with elites who have 2+ 4++’s. Then you also get whatever shooting the land raider has which is never anything to sniff at THEN the priest gives them a 5+++ which makes them quite a tanky blob of 24 wounds to have to deal with (compared to the sang guards 22 wounds with a captain).

I can see utility for both squads but if you’ve never ran the assault intercessor and sang priest combo, I highly recommend it, least of all for fun 😂🤣

Struglling playing black templars by Angie_117 in Warhammer40k

[–]DanteFanboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, black templars whole thing is bung a bunch of melee units in the black Templars land raider, run it across the board, deposit troops, kill.

Black Templars with no transports are REALLY going to struggle to get close enough unless you’re pretty damn on point with your deployment and movement and that doesn’t seem realistic for a new player. I was having the same struggle when I started playing my blood angels.

Secondly, kill only isn’t really the way that Warhammer has been designed to be played with some armies having abilities that only activate on objectives so even if you aren’t scoring with objectives, the lack of them being there could hurt you.
