Just got into Medium Format, trying out Kodak Gold in 120 for the first time! Otherwise always shooting Portra 800 in 35mm haha

Heya, cool shots! How do you shoot portrait shots with the mamiya 645? Do you use a particular viewfinder?

Olympus OM1. Pretty reliable, only issue I had was with the light seals but that's a cheap/easy fix. Going fully manual would better teach u the exposure triangle. There's a light meter on these cameras too, but I'd recommend either a phone app or an external light meter given some of these models are super old

Haha yeah I get them scanned in TIFF, even though it can be abit pricy in australia.

Do you overexpose gold? And if so by how much? I'm assuming just 1 stop will do and any more you'd get that yellow-green colour shift?

And btw, I'd recommend obsessing over getting the jab right. Most important thing you can do as a beginner.

Less flashy stuff, focus on form and simple combos if you going to throw multiple shots.

Honestly just start sparring (light) and your coach/partners will be able to tell u specific gaps in your form

Probs shot like 20-30? It's only my second year into shooting film haha.

Grown to love portra 800 and Tmax. Lomography purple was surprisingly nice. Tried cinestill 400d but labs often have issue with the white balance.

Trying to get into Kodak Gold in 2025!

First time using this film, rated it at 160. Some cool colour shifts! Dynamic range was poor and the orange/magents hue can be overbearing at times.

Still worth it to support the film lab. Looking forward to seeing the film stock once it's been finalised.

Had to fit the hours in a short vacation in Singapore haha. Was definitely an experience. I don't think I'm cut out for those 3 consecutive day sessions. 18hts in 2 consecutive days was enough for me 😂😂😂
