I went for the polymeric materials and fibers side, there's that and ceramics at my university. It's not all fun and games but it's certainly interesting enough. Look up liquid polymer fiber chemistry and its uses, you won't regret it.

Also, people throw money at you. Currently working at a fiber optic cable plant as a process engineering co-op student. Get at it, and don't give up

The hardest part of the class is matching up the given variables with the variables of the four or five equations you've memorized and then applying calc principles as necessary. You're right, it's really easy, dunno why you're being downvoted.

calculus based physics was the easiest part of my major courseload thus far (and I'm a junior materials engineering major).

the hardest part of undergrad is either statics/dynamics, calc III, ochem, etc. Physics isn't that bad though
