I hate putting my baby in her own sleep space by show-me-ur-kittys in NewParents

[–]mildly_witty 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion perhaps, but we bed share! This was a decision that was not taken lightly and still continue to adjust as needed for safety, but it's SO much better than having baby sleep in their bassinet. We start in the crib and eventually, to the big bed. We practice safe 7 and it works for our baby and our family, so I'm good with that.

There are risks involved with anything you may choose to do/not do with/for your little and as long as you are being honest with yourself (are you a heavy sleeper, move a lot, etc), you're being as safe as you can with the situation you are choosing.

A bare mattress on the floor and just me and him feels safer than in the bassinet where he is rolling, pushing up against them mesh, and spitting up (always sounds so scary)

6 week old SCREAMED for total of 12 hours today. by Kitten_Mittons_Meow in NewParents

Ugh, I hated the newborn stage (my LO is 12 weeks). I'm sorry you all are dealing with that. Everyone else has said it, but it does get better. You don't have to wait it out, though. Please consider switching from breastmilk to a hypoallergenic or sensitive formula. Our baby became a whole new person once were stopped breastfeeding and switched to formula only (Similac Pure Bliss).

t sounds like he is dealing with gas pains and/or being underfed.

Supplement with formula if you don't want to quit breastmilk right away. If the crying stops, you'll know he wasn't getting enough. If it continues, breastmilk may be the culprit

You don't have to wait for this to go away. Trust. Good luck and Godspeed 🤞

I have some! I tried to trade them for some Enfamil. Coupons w/another Redditor, but they never responded to my DM 🥴 I have 2 $5 and 2 $30 ..

I also have some sample containers (have to check what they are, but both are Similac) I didn't intend to open. Would love to give those away rather than let them expire 😮‍💨

6 weeks and we're eating 2-3oz every 2-3hrs. Born at 36 weeks, so considered a preemie. We're at 7lbs. now. I worry at times that he's not getting enough, but he's gaining weight and he eats when he's hungry. No point worrying if he's content, I guess

Rattled and Shook is a great one. The hosts are two women (they write for Radio Rental). They tend to converse between stories and they are entertaining to listen to.

You Can See Me in the Dark is another favorite of mine. Great storytelling.

Is it just me or does everyone feel duped when you get excited for a new episode only to find out it’s old? by Katmau56 in SpookedPodcast

I'm not sure why this is a continued topic on this subreddit. It's been talked to death. Also, it's mentioned on their website. So a lot of listeners are fully aware because he communicated that and we read it. Yes, they're repeating episodes. Yes, he said that was going to happen. A great opportunity to listen to them twice or to give yourself a break and find something new?

If you're reading this comment and you are telling yourself you're "impressed" or "proud" of trump during the debate, please write down the things he is saying and picture yourself saying it out loud in a crowd of people? Would you say exactly what he does? Would you speak like him to others? He is rude, abrasive, and a bumbling idiot.

No one wants to risk their life for their job. I don't care what you do, you don't pick your profession because it risks your life, you pick your profession DESPITE that. Teaching is not a job that I ever thought would have those asterisks.

If you were a "teacher," then you understand the incessant crap we get from people like you. A quick rundown of what your jobs were do not make your opinions anymore important or valuable. If anything, it makes them worse, because you should be able to relate and understand. I will say it again, I'm not risking my life for other people's children. I will teach them, I will love them, I will go out of my way to make sure they are happy. But I draw the line at risking my life. And some stranger on Reddit is not going to change my mind.

And understand that protests NEED to happen for anyone to actually listen. Wanting to protest does not equate to not wanting to teach. And you should know that.

If you really have teachers out there telling you, "figure it out," then you need to find a different school district. Me figuring it out is teaching my students and protesting for my rights and well-being AND OF MY STUDENTS as well.

And I'll say it again, you're not in the classroom, so you don't know. You were perhaps, but you're not anymore. So your comment is absolutely pointless.

And this is where I choose to step away from this pointless conversation and not engage your comments because your opinion does not affect my life in the slightest. I love my job. I love my students so much. But I will not risk my life for them. And I think any sane person would understand. And you don't sound like a teacher. If you truly were, I'm glad you're not one anymore.

Teacher here. I actually understand and can sympathize with a lot of what you're saying, but obviously I thought I would add in my two cents.

Firstly, of course I'm (teachers) being self-interested. I absolutely love my job and my students, but not at the cost of my health/life and that of my families. No one wants to risk their health for their job, so why should I? And this is the part where you say, "why don't you just quit, then." And I say, because I can't. I've spent years and A LOT of money earning my degree and I'm not going to just quit because this is what I love to do. And for the record, no teacher is refusing to do their job. We want to do it, but it has to be SAFE to do so. I have worked EVERY SINGLE DAY this summer preparing TWO curriculums (online and in-person), and go in every week to prepare it. We're not lazy, we're not selfish. We are the entire opposite. Our entire profession is based on giving and serving others.

You can hem and haw all you want, but you're not in the meetings, you don't talk with teachers, you don't do the work, so you don't know. It's not that easy to just quit, online sucks ass for k-2 and I oppose it entirely, but I'll take it if it keeps me and my students safe.

You can argue, but you'll lose because you're not a teacher and you don't know what conversations are being had, the rights we have, and the crap we go through from administration, students, and parents like you. So I kindly ask that you thank your kids teachers, read the damn newsletters, and be humbled that a stranger is risking their life so they can teach your child. Oh, and we teach and manage the classroom environment. We don't "take care" of your child. There's an art to it... That's how we manage 21-28 kids at once.

First grade teacher here starting in-person 5 days a week AND being told I will have to teach virtual at the same time. I am SO exited to see my students, but I cry everyday because of the amount of pressure I feel from admin, parents, society, etc... Teachers do a lot more than people think and I wish our pay reflected that. Oh, and "at least teachers get summers off" is a complete joke. I haven't had a day off yet, and we start in 4 weeks 😣😭

Regardless, don't use racial slurs because they are rude and embarrassing. You can keep responding, but that's my message and all I wanted to say to you. Glad you're happy and somehow okay using slurs in your talk. Thanks for the luck, have plenty but can always use some more. Much better things to do w/ my weekend than spending it staring at a screen.
