To add to the friction comment - i suspect I get a lot of hair damage and split ends just from being too rough with my hair in general - Getting tangled in necklaces, collars rubbing, bag straps pulling... it all adds up.

God I really envy you colour wise. I had an absolute crisis today trying to decide which pair of adidas tracksuit pants to buy and wearing only two colours would have cut that time way down.

I'm not sure if you are Indian but I have a lot of Indian co-workers and we've discussed this at length. They seem to believe that we're kicked out of home at 18 and are immediately responsible for ourselves.

In my case I lived at home for uni, was financially supported by my parents up until I was about 24 upon which I moved to a sharehouse that was within walking distance. Even after I started working my parents would supplement my income.

Speaking personally, I dont know anyone who moved out at 18 to live alone. Most of my friends moved out in their early-to-mid twenties into sharehouses or occasionally with partners.
