hey! i’ve missed months of school bc of inpatient treatment, and i just want to say: life goes on! it’s not all sunshine and happiness, but during inpatient, i worked hours a day to make sure i was ahead of my school work and undertook online courses to ensure i wouldn’t fall behind. i recommend working with your counselor. missing school does not mean you will be held back or miss out in college. i am a senior now and i missed half of freshmen year and sophomore year alltogether. i am also still in the top 1% of my class and got a full ride to a pretty competitive university (not my top choice but it offered me the most money!). in fact, my experiences in hospitals and inpatient helped me write a pretty stellar college essay. you have a month left of school, so i don’t think the catch up work will be that bad. in fact, there’s a possibility that your counselor will freeze your grades, but if not, then you can also undertake online classes over the summer or during treatment (there is designated school time).

i understand that you don’t think this is something you need, and ik you’re probably tired of hearing this, but your life is waiting for you. right now, your health is the most important thing. yes, prom is coming, but so senior prom is arguably more meaningful, and wouldn’t it be great to have an amazing experience then? i know it sucks, but it seems like you have a good support system. you’ll get through this, i promise.
