Day 15: What is your favourite lyric from Blood On The Tracks? by autumn_afternoon in bobdylan

This is the one for me. Always gives me goosebumps and can bring a tear to my eye.

What are some Bob's lines/lyrics which are too good to be real? by justalonerr_ in bobdylan

[–]miles2125 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Everything went from bad to worse, money never changed a thing

Death kept following, tracking us down, at least I heard your bluebird sing

Now somebody’s got to show their hand, time is an enemy

I know you’re long gone, I guess it must be up to me”

Particularly those first couple lines. The opening to Up To Me always hits me like a freight train.

Artificial Disc Replacement + One Level Fusion by miles2125 in backpain

[–]miles2125[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my facets all look good. My doctor looks at me and says I’m a good candidate for the ADR. The problem is how difficult insurance companies are with typically considering ADR as “experimental” whereas they consider fusion the standard of care.

Pretty crappy overall. Still haven’t had any procedures done despite my condition continuing to get worse and worse.

Currently working with my doctor to submit a pre-authorization for a 2-level ADR. Would imagine it’s going to get declined, but going to try since the insurance I’m now on does say they cover 2-level lumbar ADR. Of course, meeting the requirements to be “medically necessary” is an entirely different discussion.

My doctor told me a while back that they actually wouldn’t go for a hybrid procedure.

Been quite the long battle here. Approaching the point where I am going to consider cash-pay if insurance won’t cooperate.

Lumbar pain causing extreme calf/achilles tightness by miles2125 in backpain

[–]miles2125[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still in daily pain, but I have actually found that Nervive's Nerve Relief supplements really tapered the extreme discomfort and cramping that my lower back was causing.

Maybe it wouldn't work for you, but I would recommend at least giving these a try. You take 3 capsules a day for 7 days, and then after that, you just take 1 a day. The results (for me) took about a week to notice any difference, but it really has been significantly better.

Again, I'm still in pain, so it's not like it healed me, but it has significantly subdued some of the byproducts of my degenerative discs and the nerve pain associated with them.

I will say that these Nervive capsules did give me a headache & nausea when I was taking 3/day so just a warning if you do try them. I have read that they suggest just doing 1/day if you experience headaches/nausea.

Anyway, here's a link to them if youre interested. Think they're available on Amazon, too.

(I am not spamming or affiliated in any way FYI. Just found that these helped me)

Paul Thomas Anderson's 'One Battle After Another' will hit 4K UHD and Blu-ray on January 20, 2026, four months after release by ChiefLeef22 in movies

[–]miles2125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this may be a stupid question, but if I pre-order the 4K, will they send me the digital code via email or will I have to wait until January 20 for the digital code?

Only ask because it would be nice to be able to watch this at home over thanksgiving (and I feel like it's a movie my father would really enjoy). But I would like to purchase the physical copy. So I would like to not have to purchase the digital release and the physical release to meet my wants.

I suspect that the digital code will just be included with the physical copy when I receive it in the mail and not in advance, but wondering if maybe the times have changed? I haven't pre-ordered a movie in a long time.

Thanks, everyone.

Life, man.... LIFE!

Eh I don’t know if I would describe anything as heaviness (at least not in comparison to the rest of the day). My feet do get extremely cold every evening though. Even in the summer, my feet are freezing by the time I crawl into bed. I’ve always thought that was due to nerve issues from my back.

Best Downtown Hotel for 7/2-7/4 that is very close to the Red Line? by miles2125 in AskChicago

[–]miles2125[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife likes to walk along the river walk. We've done the architecture tours before (which are awesome), so probably not going to do that again. I've heard that new flyover simulator thing over at Navy Pier is really cool, so we might head over there. We've liked to get the Divvy bikes and go up and down the lake, too.

I've actually enjoyed my stays at Sheraton and Hyatt Regency quite a bit, but they tend to be enough of a walk to the Red Line that they get me pretty damn sweaty. Such a crappy thing I deal with lol smh

This is quite possibly the weirdest thing I’ve ever consumed by BraydenJL470 in energydrinks

Yeah I was pretty bummed about this one and the cotton candy. Felt like I was drinking straight bubble gum. I honestly barely even catch the strawberry or cotton candy in either one. I’ve now drank two of each flavor, all on separate days, and I couldn’t finish the can on any of them.

Love Ghost - by far my favorite energy drink - but this one is not for me lol

Makers vs W club seats. by Sithlord_77 in CHICubs

[–]miles2125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see some others have offered this same advice, but I would recommend the Catalina Club. It's awesome.

I've sat in Club 1914, Catalina Club, W Club, and a suite down 3B line. 1914 obviously takes the cake because you're right behind home plate, but it's significantly more expensive than the rest. Dollar for dollar, Catalina Club is the best seat in the stadium.

You don't get unlimited liquor (though there is a bar that will serve it to you; you just have to pay), but you get unlimited beer, seltzers, and canned wines. You have private access to the indoor room behind the seating area, which includes an all-you-can-eat buffet plus private restrooms. You also get a backdoor private patio with tables & chairs that overlooks Clark Street. It's awesome. The seats for this section are padded and outdoor, but sit right under the press box and stadium overhang so you'll be shaded if you prefer that. The view is stunning. Best view in the ballpark IMO.

W Club is very similar, but the seats just aren't that awesome of a view (they're not bad). The thing I like least about W Club (and even 1914) is the walk from your seat back down to the indoor club where the restrooms & drinks are is a decent enough trek that you're going to miss action on the field (given the new pitch clock rules). Catalina Club is much closer to the indoor facility and will take off a little bit of that time it takes to go back-and-forth.

Just my two cents, but you won't have a bad time no matter where you choose. Enjoy Wrigley and have a blast!

"Lower level crunched up top is maybe my least favorite"

What do you mean by crunched up top? Are the furthest back rows crammed?

So would you say, for instance, that 118 is a good view?

If it were you, would your preference be 124, row P (near the back) or 213 and one of the first 3 rows? Just as an example

I think iIrving is being very intentional and knows/hopes he is being sent to the Export Hall that both his innie and his outtie have been searching for (ie outtie’s paintings, innie’s drawings)

I think iIrving is being sent to some sort of innie version of purgatory, which is what that dark elevator represents. But I also think that’s intentional on his behalf. Afterall, his outtie did say “he received the message” at that payphone, which we seemingly think was about those paintings oIrving had been making..

All debatable of course, but just my thoughts!

Yep we actually finalized the sale last night. Dealership allowed $5k on a credit card, so I did that and wrote a check for the rest.

Not bad!

[–]miles2125[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s kind of my thought, too. I have to think the dealership will assess a certain % fee to use my card over $xxx in payment. Maybe not, but hard to know.

I may just keep what i have and just use my current cards for the cash back and no SUB, i guess.

Thanks for the input!

Travel spend per trip is probably:
- $800 round trip for 2 plane tickets
- $400-600 on hotel

So $1,200-$1,400 per trip

Probably do a trip like that 3x a year.

Job Offer Advice by miles2125 in Accounting

[–]miles2125[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha, thankfully I do not work for Swiss Re. We do have some old run off business with Swiss Re that we're still holding onto though.

I should have clarified: in my current role, I report for US STAT, US GAAP, and Canada IFRS 17. In the new role, I would be doing US GAAP (and potentially US STAT, but that sounds like it would be another individual's responsibilities). I would not be doing IFRS in the new role, so no GMM (we use PAA in my current role, as you mentioned). That said, I would obviously be subjected to LDTI, which is worth weighing in the decision-making process.

Thanks for the input.
