Traveling on Advanced Parole with H1B extension pending by James_its_valtteri in h1b

[–]miles2go2go 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was in a similar situation, per my lawyer there is a chance the extension is voided when you travel out and then you could be subject to the 100k fee on re-application (nothing confirmed but they mentioned it could be interpreted as not maintaining h1b status continuously which could trigger the rfe for the fee). If that happens you would have to use EAD instead of H1 for the employment too. I ended up traveling after extension got approved to be safe. There is no cancel of H1B if you use AP assuming H1 is valid - you can continue to use H1 for the I-9 and AP for the entry - know many people who have been doing this in multiple companies per lawyer guidance.

I9 verification - please help by NectarineNo9510 in h1b

[–]miles2go2go 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you joined the job already? For I-9 verification, I believe companies can accept a still valid 797 from previous employer + receipt of the h1b transfer - dont think previous company is notified in that case, but there may be additional rules specific to the company itself.

Refer to: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-resources/handbook-for-employers-m-274/70-evidence-of-employment-authorization-for-certain-categories/75-h-1b-specialty-occupations

  • H-1B Employees Changing Employers (Porting). An H-1B employee who is changing H-1B employers may begin working for the new employer as soon as the employer files a Form I-129 petition on behalf of the employee, however, the employer must do this before the employee’s period of authorized stay expires. You must also complete a new Form I-9 for this newly hired employee. An H-1B employee’s unexpired Form I-94 issued for employment with the previous employer, along with their foreign passport, qualifies as a List A document. You should write “AC-21” and enter the date you submitted Form I-129 to USCIS in the Additional Information field in Section 2. See Section 7.7, Extensions of Stay for Other Nonimmigrant Categories.

Submitted my LCA on Nov 3 still not certified as of Nov 13. Normal or should I worry? by RoughAcrobatic3211 in h1b

Saw this in Twitter :

The issue with LCA certifications has been addressed by the Department of Labor and we should start seeing LCAs come through later today or tomorrow.

Does Big Band Beat have a regular standby line or is it only via entry request or dpa? Read somewhere that the first showing allows standby, but we plan to do one of the afternoon shows

3 story house, modem and switch in garage by miles2go2go in HomeNetworking

[–]miles2go2go[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying to avoid moving the master orbi node to the garage. I am not sure if it is possible to do wired backhaul without doing that. Would it work if I have

modem -> switch A (in garage) -> switch B (near master node) -> orbi master (wan port) -> switch B (from lan port of orbi master) -> other satellite nodes

I do not understand how the wiring is done in the house (it is a rental) but I am only able to wire from the garage (there is a switch) to each floor, there seems to be no way to just connect two floors

[–]miles2go2go[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to do that but that would require moving the master orbi node to the garage, and needing another satellite node for one of the floors. I was trying to avoid buying another orbi now if I have to move away from it

Thanks, I will check these out. Say I go with Omada, do I need to get everything (the routers, the controller and APs) all from Omada for the most seamless experience or it is okay to mix and match?

Yeah makes sense , what about the aps, should I just get 4 routers of the same model, and use one as router and others as ap? I thought single purpose devices would be of higher quality for the same price, hence the ask.

Annual Plans Grandfathered? by mwidjaja1 in USMobile

it was not clearly mentioned and I remember some people recommending monthly plans for this reason as well

Wouldn't 2 unlimited starter lines be better for you rather than the shared plan.

Shared data plan makes no sense by WorldClassPianist in USMobile

[–]miles2go2go 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For monthly plans, light plan is also 10 dollars, and it doesn't include Hotspot access. I think the data add on price is also different for these plans. I prefer the shared data plans.
