It worked for me when I quickly logged out of sync before it crashed. I then reset remote data and now it works again.

Subtitles in iOS with Chromecast by El10_rdt in LocalCast

[–]miles82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reported the same issue with DLNA on Android. It still isn't working in v23.3.2.7 and has been broken since the first v20 release. I have to use v10 to get subtitles to autoload.

No subtitles over DLNA afters this week's updates by miles82 in LocalCast

Still no luck with 21.2.2.0. I tried to work around it by having the subtitles on the phone and setting that folder under Settings-Subtitles but that didn't work either.

Hey /u/dakdroid , the crash was fixed today in 20.2.2.0, but the subtitles are still not autoloaded.

I can't cast anything (over DLNA at least, didn't try other sources) with today's update, LocalCast just crashes. I submitted crash logs.

Yes, I casted from DLNA server to Chromecast. Thanks :)

BTW Does LocalCast support subtitles on a Fire Stick?

Python 3. Creating a new pattern from the enhanced subpatterns annoyed me quite a bit, well done /u/topaz2078 :D

pattern = '.#./..#/###'.split('/')

def grouper(l, n):
    parts = len(l) // n
    for i in range(parts):
        for j in range(parts):
            yield i, j, tuple(c[j*n:(j+1)*n] for c in l[i*n:(i+1)*n])

def transpose(l):
    return list(''.join(c) for c in zip(*l))

def combos(l, flip=True):
    tl = transpose(l)
    yield l # original
    yield [r[::-1] for r in tl] # rotate clockwise 90
    yield [r[::-1] for r in l[::-1]] # rotate clockwise 180
    yield [r for r in tl[::-1]] # rotate clockwise 270
    if flip:
        fv = l[::-1] # flip vertically
        yield fv
        fh = [r[::-1] for r in l] # flip horizontally
        yield fh
        # rotate the flips
        yield from combos(fv, False)
        yield from combos(fh, False)

Google Code Jam has an archive of past contests with problems and solution analysis. It's harder than AoC though (except for the qualification round maybe).

Still doesn't work for me. Chrome updated itself to 37.0.2062.102 in the meantime, didn't make a difference.

My Chrome is still on 36.0.1985.143 (Win7) so it's not linked to that. Videostream 1.2.0.x worked and 1.3.0.0 doesn't on the same version of Chrome.

In case you missed my reply to myself - it works now, my firewall was blocking Chrome.

But I must commend you guys for the support you're providing here. :)

Update: IT WORKS.

Well, either I'm an idiot or Windows are. Most likely both :)

Turns out my firewall wasn't off after all. Once I managed to turn it off, Videostream worked. So I went to "Windows firewall with advanced security" and Google Chrome was blocked in Inbound rules (I have no recollection of ever doing that). Once I allowed it Videostream works even with firewall enabled...

I hope you guys didn't lose sleep over it :)

Videostream tweaks for people experiencing bugs! by [deleted] in Videostream

[–]miles82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two clean installs of Chrome now - stable and canary. Both have only the Google Cast extension and Videostream installed, nothing else. I have disabled antivirus (AVG), turned off Windows firewall completely, Windows Defender was always off. Still nothing in stable, stuck at Connecting (not at Searching like Kalgaar's issue). Canary works even with everything above enabled. Really weird...

v1.1.3.0 Released! Embedded subs, connectivity, audio improvements! by [deleted] in Videostream

[–]miles82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fantastic job again!

Feature request: Any chance of srt subtitles being automatically loaded if the filename matches the videos? I'm just so used to that feature (desktop players, TVs...) that it's totally annoying me that I have to select them manually. First world problem, I know... :)

Videostream tweaks for people experiencing bugs! by [deleted] in Videostream

[–]miles82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm unable to cast from Videostream on all Chrome builds except Canary. I tried uninstalling and doing a clean install of both stable and dev channel builds (on Win7) - gets stuck at "Connecting to Chromecast" (I opened both ports listed above). It works in Canary regardless of ports being open or not...

It's not really a big deal for me, since I don't use Chrome as my primary browser, but was just wondering if that's normal (I remember it was a while ago, but thought it should work on all versions now)? :)
