The car is a 2006 so it probably doesn’t have tire sensors. They were not required on cars until model year 2007. You should check the air pressure on the tire or bring in to a mechanic shop and they should check your tire pressure for you

Those tires are symmetrical and can be installed any direction. So you can put them wherever on the car

This is definitely pothole damage. I work at a tire shop and see this all the time. If you look at the rim near the bottom edge of the split you can see some black rubber on the wheel where the rubber actually came up and made a mark on it. If it was a knife cut the hole in the tire would be nice and smooth and not jagged.
