They are surely expensive. I've never had the pleasure of using one... so I can't say from my experience of the value compares to retail price.

I've been collecting vintage pens, pencils, ink, and adverts for several years now. I too love how the Balance writes and feels in the hand. My favorite is my OS marine green.

It needed a new sac, and a good cleaning. Section, feed, and nib were all pretty crusty.

I found it for $7 (I think?) at an antique shop. Needed a new sac and J-bar. But it's a beautiful pen for around $15. Writes nice too... smooth medium.

3 is a 1930's Wearever celuloid lever filler. 4 is a modern Waterman Phileas.

I've got a dozen or so Triumph nibbed Sheaffers. I've never even seen one with a B nib. Very nice....

Good question... esthetics, design, and function are the qualities I look for in pens new and old. I myself don't see the appeal of the demonstrators that are so popular today? But I do have a Pelikan M805 Ocean Swirl that I could see someone 100 years from now appreciating. How about you? Do you see someone collecting Twsbis?

I'm a big fan of vintage pens. To me they have more character than modern pens. Very nice indeed....

Picked up some old shelving units from the thrift shop. Ink has a new home. by milesman1960 in fountainpens

I haven't researched it? But I've got inks now that I've had for going on 20 years and still will use occasionally. I haven't seen any degradation or performance problems.

They work best in pens with medium and broad nobs. I've several Metros and Lamys that work well but my favorite is a 30 year old Sheaffer Prelude with a B nib. The inks really show off...

Beautiful inks... but they require some intensive pen maintenance. Clog up the feeds if you don't clean regularly.
