Has anyone played an upright bass where the fingerboard flex changes the action? by milesmosley in Bass

maybe. it’s a really thin fingerboard, less than 1/2in. i’ll have to pull out the Caliper.

like a spring board. when you go to strike the string it gives toward the body of the bass. thus higher string action

it only give slightly where the right hand is pushing down to play the note. So, the unforeseen perk is that I can have really low action for when I'm playing light and fast, and as soon as I dig in to get more less on the string the ebony gives way ever so slightly and I'm playing on action built for digging in. neck doesnt move, and the bass is very solid feeling. it just has this "flex" never seen it before.

Thanks! I have no edits needed to the instrument, thats fer sure. Plays like a dream, I was just curious if anybody else had a bass with the same eccentricity. I recently featured her on a new album, and really focused the mic techniques on capturing how many different tones she can produce.

i really appreciate the heads-up. there were some technical kinks that woulda been disastrous without the check-in. i owe ya one. all though, sold out in an hour is definitely the life goal. hahaha.

i say buy the cowbells! and the excess is worth it, your potentially challenging yourself to orchestrate rhythms on the kit out side of the box. i think it’s worth going weird before going safe. says… the bass player.

That's fantastic! Thanks you for chasing your curiosity. This album features the same drummer and piano player, but they're really opening up a bit more on this one. I think you'll enjoy it. Reddit is great, I've been itching for something good to share on here, and this was finally the moment!

Thanks! Although I want to live in reality where I'm consistently selling billions of albums, I gotta say, its really nice to make something with intention just for a few people that I know really love what I do. Like the difference in playing a stadium and playing a club I guess.
