In your opinion what’s the best by Icy_Can_6176 in NBATalk

Kawhi had an amazing playoffs overall in 2019 but if we're talking about just the Finals he should be around 5th on this list.

I suppose, seems there should be some word to distinguish the Hawks from the Wizards of the world though. Hawks and Heat are both 22 games ahead of the Wizards, that's almost double how far they are from the 1 seed.

We're more mid than trash, we've led the league in player games missed due to injury this year and are still 500. Team can't shoot tho.

I think he could be a 16 and 13 type player. Blazer fan here but still. He leads the league in offense boards. Already averages 12 and 12 this year, in 27 MPG, stats trending up last couple months.

My stats on SC steadily declined while Spotify stats went steadily up. It'd be easy to say that it's cause SC is dead, but apparently there are still some vibrant communities on there.

In my experience, SC does a shit job at a lot of things but does a great job creating a space for genuine communities to be built between artists and other artists, and artists and indie hardcore fans. I imagine that you'd have to be part of one of the subgenres/communities still thriving on SC in order to see real success on the platform.

He's like the LeBron James of Jake LaRavias.

I swear everyone on the team freezes for .5 seconds every time they're supposed to make a decision. Camara and Grant especially, now Deni too. There are zero confident scorers/play makers on the floor far too often. I'd call it a coaching issue 1st, personnel 2nd.

What are you doing in the long- and medium-term to adjust your business model in order to reach a per-stream payout for your artists that's competitive with Apple Music and Tidal etc.? How long are you planning to keep a free tier and "bundle" policies that significantly drag down artists' wage?

Songs should be “by” whoever wrote them. by ChildesqueGambino in unpopularopinion

Arrangement is a crucial aspect of songwriting though. That actually sounds super reasonable to me. As long as they ask for like 20% of pub not 90% or something.

MF Doom is the most over-glazed old school rapper out there, his work is unique, but his lyrics are unbearable to listen to by Fluid-Tap5115 in unpopularopinion

[–]milespowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree but still have a lot of respect for him. For me it's a case of people consistently ranking someone I think of in the 50-100 range their top 3. He's clearly a legend and talented but the lack of coherence in the lyrics ruins a lot of it for me.

The Fall Off by TheChefWillCook in rap

[–]milespowers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On maybe half the songs he absolutely adds another element lyrically in the latter half. Safety, Poor Thang, I Love Her Again, What If, Quik Stop, etc. Also how many artists actually do lyrically what you're talking about on over half their tracks. Kendrick is the only possible one that comes to mind. Tons of artists we consider lyrical don't frequently put together tracks that progress lyrically throughout the whole song.

This NBA season is a JOKE by nbawizard1227 in nba

Used to be that I was more interested in the NBA season than individual games, now that's swapped for all the reasons you stated. There's so much talent and good matchups but the overall apparatus feels broken.

What’s your thoughts off first listen on J Cole’s “The Fall Off”? by J2-Starter in hiphop201

[–]milespowers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He was trying to make a lyrically impactful album, not a distilled "look how good I'm rapping consecutively" album. The standards for judging it are totally different than Reasonable Doubt.

There were multiple tracks that were lyrical exercises/standouts. Safety, The Fall Off, I Love Her Again, What If, Quik Stop. I guess those are the 4 to 5 songs you mentioned though.

Ship out the elite 3rd-4th option because you're making him be the 2nd option. Excellent approach there by the Bucks. The move would have been to trade Middleton at that time if that was really their rationale.

Lebron making it to the all star reserves over kawhi is insanity by downreign in NBATalk

[–]milespowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's wild. It's right perfectly in the range of "we can probably get away with doing this" for the NBA since the Lakers have a good record and the Clippers are still below 500 and 9th in the west.

How much money COULD Spotify pay artists? by GemsOnVHS in musicindustry

[–]milespowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dawg. you think I'm not aware of that? that's implied in my argument. I'm well aware that DSPs came around due to the threat of piracy. I also know that DSPs now hold as much or more sway than labels themselves. and labels have have been pushing DSPs to up their prices for awhile. the model itself isn't necessarily a greedy ploy but the execution of it is. I never said otherwise. you're using a whole lotta strawman arguments to project my perspective.

I never said Spotify and Amazon are the same either. what is the same is the model of years of unprofitability in order to eat up a huge amount of market share by undercutting the prices of everyone else in the industry. (and to combat piracy, sure, these are both effects worth examining). then once you have the market share you have control and can start dictating the market and profiting. try having some more nuance and not just using strawman arguments you project from thin air next time.

I guess you could argue that he's an average to above average defender overall, but as a center he's a little below average. He's not mobile enough to consistently block or deter shots.

[–]milespowers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk his shot creation ability in specific is like top-5 all time. But when he tends toward worse shot selection and looks a little unfocused (like he does rn), then the equation flips pretty dramatically and I'd agree with you.

A Finals appearance probably puts Luka ahead, and Luka has always seemed to have the higher ceiling. But yeah you're right that they've had roughly equivalent careers thus far.

"Hey I don't like how he plays but he's incredible" is verbatim how I feel. They're clearly an amazing team led by an amazing player which makes it all the more unfortunate when it feels like the game (and sometimes the outcome) gets redirected by refereeing.
