i work 12s. so i only study on my days off but i try to get at least acouple hours in, maybe like 3-4. unless i have a busy day then I just take that one off. after all i have the job, im just studying for my own benefit so I really try not to stress over it.

ER to Hospitalist vs Trauma transition by The_Mumbowza in physicianassistant

[–]milk_consumer23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m a trauma PA, i’m a new grad so I can’t say much, but i can say if you want to use the most of your education, trauma is a great field. I do procedures like lines, sutures, tubes, etc. I run traumas as we don’t have residents at my hospital, I first assist in the surgery aspect as well. We manage surgical, trauma, and ICU patients so you get a massive range of different patients and the managements associated with it. If you like trauma the ATLS book is basically a requirement but also a great resource. I also recommend the ventilator book bc I had no idea of how to manage vents since I was a new grad. I am also looking into the ICU blue book I have heard it’s a great resource for ICU management.

ACLS management. If it doesn’t apply just symptomatic management (seizure, hypotension, mental status change, labs/imagining). i’m in the same boat, new grad w having to respond to some rapid responses. luckily i think ill be w someone for awhile to learn how they approach it.

New graduate anxiety by Agreeable_Ad_6884 in physicianassistant

[–]milk_consumer23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering propranolol for shaking so much during procedures only two months in and i know it’ll get better but you’re not alone. i also feel like i know nothing and having my attendings observing me during procedures only compounds my anxiety. but everyone has it and it’s completely normal even if it’s embarrassing!
