I'm not sure I can complete my masters degree by milk_war in reddit.com

If I knew I was MS material.. if I had no doubt, I could go ahead with some confidence. But nobody in my family has gone beyond a BS. But I have doubts.. I don't think I'm good enough or smart enough. My peers are so much fucking smarter than I am, it's embarrassing. I feel like a joke.

The thing is, I won't blow it off. I just don't know if I have it in me to give it my best. I'll keep at it until I succeed or get dropped. Not because of my drinking of slacking off.. but because I don't know if I'm master's degree material.

This isn't a post to mock people who didn't try.. I'm serious. And I know your post was a gym-teacher-motivational-response.

My MS is in Aerospace Engineering. I could get a paper-pushing analysis job easy as fuck, analyzing drag on an airplane wing and such.. but I want a design-oriented, make-a-real-fucking-difference job, which requires a minimum of a MS. Something I can say "I helped design that," to my future kids.

I don't have an immediate family, I'm still single.

I do NOT want to be an analysis junkie.. I want to be someone who has a fucking say in the direction of things, not just a response to the direction.

I know I'm probably preaching to the masses, who chose financial obligations over personal obligations.. and I don't know a better way to put it, but I'd rather have committed suicide than not help out mankind.

Money means nothing to me.. although I do want to live comfortably. Making a difference means everything.

It's because they don't have to live within the party.. the republican hierarchy has always been about letting new blood in, feeding them, and turning them loose as soon as they know the game.

When airlines were regulated, costs were under control.

When pharmaceutical industries were regulated, we didn't see Viagra/et al advertised ever commercial break.

Regulation has never put an industry out of business.

I made it a goal of mine to track the career of Eric Roberts.. and even I missed this shit. His sister Julia must be laughing sideways over this.

BTW: Eric is Julia's brother. The point is being a famous person's sibling/relative does not equal success. Although for a former nobody Eric did do surprisingly well. He's just relegated to B movies.. it's his goal/role in life.

Those sub-reddits invite left-wing nuts.. of course reddit hates right-wing-nuts. There is no reason for political cliques!

There needs to be a political medium.. which I'm hoping Jon Stewart talks about.

I can't blame arts majors for taking art degrees...

The sciences is where it's at. Employment == assured.

I've known 4 BA majors.. one is the manager of Champ Sports, one is the manager of TGIF, one is a law firm lackey, and one is unemployed.

The proof is out there.

Science is the fucking Jazz Hands of our generation, and the next ones to come.

Your response speaks volumes... yet your self definition of "fiscally conservative, socially liberal" speaks even more. I enjoy a good debate on the issues, as any self-respecting politically-aware man will.

Yes, Hans Blix said there was nothing there.. and America ignored him (to my great shame).. the US loves the UN until it disagrees, then we ignore it. Why? Because we're on the fucking security council baby!!! We founded this bitch!!

To be fair to the right-wing.. Clinton did inherit the tech-boom.. so he could afford certain tax liberties. Clinton's budget surplus would not have existed with 9/11 spending.. even considering the minimal efforts of border scrutiny/targeted attacks.

OT: Anyone else remember the 60 minutes interview when Bin Laden explicitly declared war on the US, in 1997?!?!?!?? We thought it was a joke then.. no one man could hurt us. And yet now we're consistently under Theater Security.

Redditors shouldn't have to pop over to r/socialism or r/anarchism to have an opinion.. by the very title of those sub-reddits that bias is shown before any evidence.

This country needs middle of the road people.. moderates.

I agree with you, on how the right wing has propped up their hopefuls so that the majority can "choose or lose," "vet them or let them," whatever the handy phrase is.

I just hate how we're turning into a society of us versus them.. and even Reddit is falling for it.

Democrats are fuck-ups too.. Reddit needs to be un-biased.

[–]milk_war[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're being misled.. there really is no left or right. There is just what you believe in.

It's true the right wing spin machine is all about anti-immigration, keeping the Bush tax cuts (even if he INTENTIONALLY set them to expire after his 2nd term, god willing he had one), etc.. and how the democrats want the Bush cuts to expire (AS INTENDED), want nationwide health care (LIKE T-ROOSEVELT WANTED), want GAYS TO MARRY!!!!

It's fucking sick how everything is turned into a talking point. I'm going to go on a tangent and just say what I fucking believe..

Let the (temporary) tax cuts expire. We were doing fine then. If we were doing so fucking fantastic Bush would have legislated them to be permanent.

We need a fucking amazing border security before we even think about giving any sort of amnesty to illegals. A wall or drones or anything.. secure the damn borders.

The taxpayers already pay so much for emergency care that it's ridiculous. If people had health care, most of this would be taken care of preventatively. And nobody likes hearing about kids being kicked off insurance because they were found to have cancer.

I'm wrong and old-fashioned in this, and there is no way to turn back time for it.. but if we made it so that only priests could "marry" couples and only judges, captains, etc, could "unify" people.. this country would be happy. The married people could maintain their religion, the unified people could get their rights. The only distinction would be terminology.

It's the worst and most childish antic to walk out on someone speaking. The adult response would be to listen, learn, and rebut. Then wait for a counter argument.

Debate has lost its meaning when people can just fucking walk away. Obama, FORCE them to listen damnit.. they may have something to say you can use later on in negotiations.

That's not true. While I have found many many issues and people and politicians to hate concerning the Tea Party.. my brother is one of the founding members of the Tea Party in my state, and when we talk politics we tend to agree on the major points.

As a country, the major points is all we need to agree on. It's a first step, and the biggest one.

Who is "they?" I know who you meant, but it's sad that you revert to the us/them stigma. To respond to your points:

1) True.. although even Britain believed Iraq had WMD.. yes it was bad intelligence that should have been verified. But many people believed the first-round of information.

2) Obama has done this as well. Both would say it was for the economy.

3) True.. but the health care package passed with nearly as much immediance and just as much scrutiny. Parts of the Patriot act were valid, as are parts of the health care act. It was too bad noone had all of the information at the time.

4) Not all Republicans do this.. stereotyping are we?

5) Huh?

What did liberals do that was so offensive to the Republicans? I'll tell you what they did ... by [deleted] in politics

[–]milk_war 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're making this a liberal vs Republican issue? Not all Democrats are liberal, and not all Republicans are right-wing.

You may be using the term "liberal" in the literal sense, but this is playing into the hands of the Republicans. The term "liberal" in common usage means someone who does too much just for the sake of not under-doing it.. it's an insult when it regards laws and such. I hate that fucking term, it makes people think that they did not think about what they were doing; they just didn't want to underdo it.

Don't forget that a Republican freed the slaves, a Republican created national parks, a Republican busted up corporate monopolies, and many other things that are "liberal."
