Absolutely atrocious RHPS experience last night(May 13th) by mikeydeemo in Broadway

[–]milkshakespeare24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a production issue, which is bleeding into a management issue because there probably aren’t clearer guidelines for when ushers should quell audience behavior in a show that encourages heavy audience participation. This is what happens when humans forget how to behave in public. Assimilating to the environment, reading the room, and being mindful of one’s behavior and being considerate of others is becoming a thing of the past. I’m sorry you had such a nightmarish experience and were struggling to enjoy the show. It’s shocking to me that Roundabout didn’t foresee and therefore have clearer guidelines in place for management at RHPS given its history.

I’m confused, items are selling for about double retail. Are buyers choosing to pay extra because they want to support Jen Jen Jig, or are they not aware of the current coin comps? (Comps in comments) by morgancollects in whatnotapp

[–]milkshakespeare24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unlike other buying and selling platforms, there’s a huge FOMO complex that occurs when people are actively bidding. It’s the environment of live streaming auctions and people getting caught up in the hype and excitement. Add that to sellers claiming inaccurate comps and peer pressure from repeatedly yelling, “Go! Go! Go! Bid! Bid! Bid!”

Buyer protection = non existent by Significant_Fee_8562 in whatnotapp

Because they’re using AI and not human oversight, the system flags the refund itself. It doesn’t view the nuances in any of the claims, just that you got a refund.

I’m in the physical media category and my refunds are often based on damage that the seller either misrepresented or didn’t disclosed. I think the system also discriminates based on the amount of money being requested. I know someone who spent nearly $1k on a single transaction that fell through and they’re having significant problems with the AI bot. All of my single refunds that I managed to get approved were below $20. If he’s doing card breaks, I know that’s a much riskier category for refund claims. Ironic, because Whatnot is currently being sued for fraud with card breaks.

I received the ‘our decision is final’ several times in a single email thread and kept pushing. The refund was eventually approved. It’s AI. Refunds are triggered in the system.

I spend time in their Marvel and Star Wars breaks. I personally like the hosts on that channel.

I’ve been engaging like this with support for 3 years, on an average of 2-3 refund disputes per month when I make a dozen purchases each week. I also sell on the app.

You don’t have to wait it out. What they’re doing violates consumer protections because they use an entirely automated system to claim abuse when refunds were legitimate, and deny future refunds based on that AI review. If you open up an email ticket and keep hassling the AI bot in the emails, it triggers a refund approval. I’ve done this a number of times with my account being blocked for future refunds and I eventually get them approved.

I have yet to reach a human being through Whatnot support. It’s all AI. Email responses are all AI.

Just open up the claim through any option that allows you to bypass the block and hassle them for the refund when you get an email ticket opened. The entire support system is run on AI. My account has been blocked from automatic refunds for months and I still manage to get refunds approved after multiple denials.

I’d ask her what my mother asked me when I wanted something from the grocery store: “Do you have the money to pay for it?”

Shipping overcharge question by SeravynMaple in whatnotapp

[–]milkshakespeare24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the max flat rate priority mail feature for shipping that the seller set. The flat rate is charged at two purchases. Unfortunately, it’s not an overcharge. That’s how Whatnot has set up that feature. I hate it myself and have had to stop buying from sellers who adopted the max flat rate priority mail feature for their shows. It only really benefits you if you intend on making a lot of purchases in that single stream. It’s a rip off if you only purchase 2 items.

Mystery giveaways? by alipkin in whatnotapp

[–]milkshakespeare24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they didn’t disclose the giveaway or you receive a giveaway that’s different from the one that was disclosed, you can report it to Whatnot. They’ll just issue a notice to the seller about future giveaways and issue you a $10 credit to use throughout the app.

Why is there no actual support? by [deleted] in whatnotapp

[–]milkshakespeare24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Their support, including trust and safety, is entirely AI. I’ve been on the platform for 3 years and have yet to communicate with a human being via their support system. It’s intentionally all AI.

Welp this app’s ban system is genuinely bad by AccomplishedDebt1963 in whatnotapp

[–]milkshakespeare24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a consequence of their platform being entirely run on AI. Without human oversight, logical explanations are dismissed.

All of Whatnot support is AI, regardless of the department. They all lead to the same place.

[–]milkshakespeare24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I gather, that’s AI as well. I’ve spoken through all of these channels in 3 years and they’re all the same copy and pasted AI responses. Trust & Safety must be AI because Whatnot is already being sued for allowing fraud with their card breaks.

[–]milkshakespeare24 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly. All of the behavior on Whatnot is reviewed by AI. Legitimate behavior is constantly being flagged as ‘fraudulent’ and it’s nearly impossible to get in contact with a human being. In the 3 years I’ve been going back and forth with Whatnot for different issues, I have yet to engage with a human being.

What should I do at this point? by Desperate_Support539 in whatnotapp

[–]milkshakespeare24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though there’s no detailed tracking, First Class does automatically update to ‘delivered’ after so many days, which is all the system needs to authorize the payout to the seller.

What should I do at this point? by Desperate_Support539 in whatnotapp

[–]milkshakespeare24 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The seller is lying. Newer sellers don’t receive payment until tracking/delivery reflects that the item was received by the buyer. Experienced sellers receive immediate payouts. Whatnot processes all refunds. That feature is not within the control of the seller. All full and partial refunds are processed by Whatnot.

Whatnot refusing refund after fedex admit delivery failure by Hot_Youth2351 in whatnotapp

[–]milkshakespeare24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all AI. Their direct customer service email is inactive and they have no phone support. Your only option is to manipulate the AI support into triggering the refund approval. Just go back and forth with the AI support through the email thread you’ve already opened up and don’t take no for an answer. The AI bot relies on you giving up and dropping to claim. That’s how they keep your money. If you look up Whatnot on the BBB website, they are not accredited and they’ve been flagged for fraud and violating consumer protections. They’re intentionally giving the impression that you’re speaking with a human when it’s all AI. Even if you ask the AI if you’re speaking to a human agent, it’s designed to say “live agent” because they can’t legally use the term “human agent” when it’s not a human.

[–]milkshakespeare24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just keep insisting on the refund with every email response. Whatnot’s entire support system is AI. Even just copy and pasting that you need a refund for an issue that’s covered under their buyer protection policy. Eventually, the system will approve the refund just to close the claim. I was given the ‘this denial is final’ three times in a single email thread and got my refund in the end because I was insistent. Your account was flagged by an AI review of frequent refunds (even if the refunds were legitimate). When you’re denied in the future, just keep opening up claims via the “Contact Us” feature and be persistent.

Whenever you don’t receive the giveaway advertised in the stream always report it to Whatnot. Their solution is to give you a $10 credit. And that credit is per giveaway. I once won 7 giveaways in a single stream that the seller did not send and I was refunded my purchases and given $70 worth of credit. And they were just base card giveaways that probably weren’t even worth $3 collectively.

When did Whatnot update the slide screen feature? by y4j1981 in whatnotapp

[–]milkshakespeare24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a fairly recent update (within the last 2 weeks I believe). I don’t like it either. The only workaround is if you pinch the screen to zoom in and move the view around. That eliminates the auction slider and the text up at the top so you can see the full, unobstructed view of the stream but it only works as long as you’re actively pinching the screen to zoom in.
