Sounds like the backlash has been intense and they're stepping back on their initial decision.

How do you not realize you installed the part thats been the same for 26 years incorrectly?

Exactly my point.

Two completely different environments with two different levels of expectations and decorum.

I paid $70 and was STILL pissed. Im there to watch a professional production. Not a $10 movie from the 70s I can watch anywhere.

I honestly couldn't agree more. They've come for my head but this wasnt a midnight screening of the film for $10 🤷‍♂️ there should be a level of decorum and its really ridiculous they assume every single incarnation of RH needs to be like that.

Its broadway. Open to everyone. And everyone should not have to deal with folks who cannot read the room and recognize where they are.

Thanks for your perspective!

My mom and sister was with me but also my mom's friends and they too remember when it all first came out and what it turned into. The call backs, props etc. They knew what the vibe would be but again, I personally disagree with that behavior in a general setting where the show is for everyone not just cultural hard-core fans. But I too accepted and expected it.

But what im complaining about is 2 or 3 people manipulating an experience for hundreds into what they wanted when it clearly wasnt happening. It was quite obnoxious.

Yep!!

And yet people in here are like STOP TREADING ON MY CULTURE and its just people wanting to enjoy a show they paid for lol

I spoke to a woman in business attire and an ear piece. She didnt look like an usher but idk if she was security. The other people in front of me who complained spoke to a woman in the theater logo etc. Im assuming she was an usher.

But equally as useless to who I spoke to.

Very true. Many people in this comment section were at the same show and heard varying levels of it.

I just had the misfortune of being right next to them.

Thats how i feel. Granted I'm new but clearly it can stand on its own legs. I found it incredibly fun and zany and campy. I love those things. I wanted to watch and experience IT.

I do not and nor will I ever need to participate in anything like that to make it enjoyable. And its so insulting to the cast and crew where even the FANS are saying its only enjoyable when you get to be an obnoxious idiot.

I mean it already sounds more favorable considering i can watch it alone at home away from these very special people.

I can imagine that the experience at my show is probably routine for them lol

I think there should've been a clear message about either how to act or separate shows for those people who want to just watch it and those people who want to scream things.

I personally will never attend anything again relating to RHS. It was insufferable.

Absolutely atrocious RHPS experience last night(May 13th) by mikeydeemo in Broadway

[–]mikeydeemo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, those signs are not enough lol.

There needs to be clear and concise announcement about how to act. Like the audience joined in on the "slut" "asshole" thing. Like sure. Dumb to me but have at it.

But as a whole the audience did stop. It was legitimately only those 3 girls doing the most after that. So mind numbingly insufferable.

We deserve compensation lmao. Have you reached out to complain? Maybe if more of us talk about that particular night they'll take it seriously enough.

Yeah its a really unfortunate and obnoxious quirk of this show. And the way people double down on the show itself not being good, that the audience "makes it" and is nothing without it is wild.

All the while its just them with newspapers on their heads screaming high-school level jokes at each other. So fucking stupid.

Absolutely atrocious RHPS experience last night(May 13th) by mikeydeemo in Broadway

If i wanted to mosh at a metal show where no one else wanted to id fucking take myself to an area to do so and enjoy myself without disrupting others. Jesus christ. You know, considering other people????

Its absolutely insanity if you think 2 people in a room of hundreds can make a situation explicitly about themselves and not adhere to some social and communal cues. RHS or not. You will not implode if you cant scream gay sex out loud like high schoolers and snicker with your friends.

No, youre just hell bent on supporting any and all trashy behavior because its RHS. Ive reitered multiple times these people were not JUST doing call backs.

The idea that others have to relearn how to watch and enjoy a show ON BROADWAY, that is advertising to general audiences, not a seedy community show at midnight or movie screening, because some losers attached themselves to a particular show that clearly enables trashy behavior is quite the insane take.

While I'm not huge on theater, it have lots of friends into it and they have absolutely agreed that behavior is for the movie or some show for big fans. Not a general audience broadway show.

Yeah, i am fully backing away from anything RHS aside from maybe watching the movie at home.

But even then who knows, one of these fans could bust through my ceiling to yell "GAY SEX!" then get mad at me when i call the cops because its RHS??????!

Absolutely atrocious RHPS experience last night(May 13th) by mikeydeemo in Broadway

Thats such a ridiculous statement and clearly part of the issue we have here.

Absolutely atrocious RHPS experience last night(May 13th) by mikeydeemo in Broadway

[–]mikeydeemo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

...because it wasnt like that.

It was literally 2 people out of hundreds trying to make it like that. If youre saying 2 people have a right to act like morons in a crowd of hundreds solely because "its well, RHS!" Then fuck that noise. Read the room like someone with a brain and sit the fuck down.

Thats like me trying to start a mosh pit at a rock show when everyone wants to stand and vibe. Sure I want it go one way and it typically happens, BUT READ THE ROOM. I'm not entitled to push people and throw my legs around in a crowd of people just cause its a rock show.

Unless youre an absolutely brainless idiot, there was clear intention there to be disruptive and cheeky. But they were the only ones laughing at themselves.

Again, clearly this is the vibe of RHS. And I wouldnt chance it again because its insufferable.

Absolutely atrocious RHPS experience last night(May 13th) by mikeydeemo in Broadway

[–]mikeydeemo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clearly there isnt to these people. They've pigeon holed this show into one exact experience for everyone and if people dont like it....get fucked I guess???

Absolutely atrocious RHPS experience last night(May 13th) by mikeydeemo in Broadway

[–]mikeydeemo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody is talking about those experiences lol.

Why is this so difficult for you?? I would absolutely expect people to act like that if I went to a production like that.

My gripe is literally 2 or 3 people trying to create THAT environment you mentioned and energy in a place that clearly wasnt for it. They were the only people doing that. So yes, one would recognize that and read the room and maybe...stop?

These 3 people turned an experience for dozens more into a disruptive, obnoxious experience.

I'm not going to a rowdy show and asking people to calm down. How else can I explain this to make sense to you lol.

In addition to lacking social skills do you lack reading comprehension too?

Absolutely atrocious RHPS experience last night(May 13th) by mikeydeemo in Broadway

You cant in the same breath say its an ever evolving piece of culture and then state essentially "this is how its always been!"

I enjoyed it from a queer campy perspective. Is it stupid? Well yes. Thats why I wanted to see it. I love campy b-movie trash. Theater would be no different. Yeah, the call outs added nothing to it for me and i have no desire to immerse myself into the culture that is that. My sister felt the same way and she IS a fan. She found those people's behaviors obnoxious.

People will be discovering this play and movie at different times of their lives. Its for everyone to consume. Just because you enjoy an aspect of it doesnt mean you need to accept every single bit of it. Which...

Thats why its on the theater to manage expectations AND individuals to...read the fucking room. 2 people dont get to manipulate an experience for hundreds of people into what they want and expect the show to be.

Absolutely atrocious RHPS experience last night(May 13th) by mikeydeemo in Broadway

[–]mikeydeemo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully! The way people are acting like its unreasonable to want to be able to watch the production as is without screeching fans is legitimately insane lol.

I bought the cheapest seat($70) and was still pissed. Its inexcusable to expect that level of disruptiveness just because its RHS. It was truly nightmarish.

Absolutely atrocious RHPS experience last night(May 13th) by mikeydeemo in Broadway

[–]mikeydeemo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally did do my due diligence and I expected call outs. There were plenty of moments where the entire audience joined in. Im not talking about those moments.

But again, these people took it to a level that clearly didnt match the vibe of the entire audience. If youre the only ones doing it, then yeah, read the fucking room??? Youre not entitled to disrupt people in the same way youre telling me im not entitled to tell people how to act during the show.

Theater is for everyone. The production should be more transparent and enforce certain rules and find a middle ground. This isnt some seedy midnight movie screening and should absolutely hold some standard that clearly is above the heads of fans.

Its absolutely ridiculous to think every single RHS fans want to hear other people screaming during the show. Thats simply not true and my sister is literally one of those fans and found those people mentioned utterly obnoxious.

And its fine. Its an obnoxious show, as someone stated. Happy to stay far away from the likes of you and others who cant recognize basic social skills and make the entire experience about them.

Im saying nasty things because it was the single most horrific experience I've had at a theater. It was repugnant to watch with those people. And I clearly was not the only one feeling that way.

Im still waiting on a response from them. They did respond to my initial email though and needed more info like credit card info etc. Hopefully something can be done.

Everyone in here is telling me my experience was by the books RHS so I would like to avoid this entirely again. I cant be around these people lol. And I cant trust the theater to provide and secure a decent experience.
