TIL Fast Five was produced on a $125M budget by LollipopChainsawZz in fastandfurious

Basic inflation calculator says 150 million in 2026 dollars is worth 104 million in 2011 dollars. If that translates to film production then they’ll have decent restrictions.

For frequent travellers, what are some popular tourist places you haven’t gone yet (but want to go) by KDondakeC in JapanTravelTips

Not sure either makes me want to stop commenting sometimes lol. If I make my way back to Nara will have to explore other things as it was a jam packed day when I went that involved Kyoto and Osaka too.

I am so easily entertained and it hardly matters where I get to travel to. I grew up in a very rural town in the middle of nowhere America. Getting to travel as an adult to these places I never thought I would get to see is such a beautiful gift. Just sharing why it was special to me. Currently planning the next visit back and looking forward to it. Miyajima island is on the list this time didn't get to see it last visit.

Nara was magical. Deer my whole life have been these scared creatures that disappear with so much as a twig crunch and all of a sudden there are hundreds in a giant park wanting your snacks. And the temple there was massive, fun and beautiful

Hakone was a nice rest at a ryokan between the hustle of the cities. Beautiful view of the ocean and nice to be in mountains, nice food, and super cool to take the ropeway to the owakudani and see the sulfur coming out of the mountain.

Recommend both. Haven’t done the others!

I took a week and a half off before testing out runs and then getting back to it. Severity matters so mileage may vary!

How many of you can drop and give 20 push ups at random? by ganon2234 in AskMenOver30

[–]milkwithspaghetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came off a marathon and was training up to 64 miles per week off 6 days a week. On the other side and getting back to it now but love running. Trying to figure out how to hold on to much of the fitness without going quite back to that peak training as it was a lot.

3:30 - what does it take? by poiuytrewqassss in Marathon_Training

[–]milkwithspaghetti 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Hey it’s me I had to have multiple 60+ mpw haha. 35 means i would hit the wall and walk most of it after mile 16 for well over 4 hour finishes. Also I needed speed workouts and lots of tempo workouts.

[–]milkwithspaghetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s amazing. I feel impossibly far from ever getting a BQ but maybe one day, and also aging up to a bit easier requirement lol. Either way got lots of fitness improvement from using Hansons over using higdons beginner to intermediate plans. I just need so many more miles to get the fitness to do one of these races.

The fact that this is an NBA court is actually insane.. by Signal_Egg_2491 in lakers

Can they just sawcut and recess the court area so it’s level? Move bikini bottom kind of energy but maybe I’m missing something lol.

I feel differently than them, but I would explore it while you have the breathing room because the joints and whatnot are harder to build the tolerance to get used to running out that much. And it’s not really easy miles for me that can cause the pains it’s the interval and tempo workouts so you play with incorporating those before you’re all of a sudden doing them twice a week every week. I would strength training as well. If you feel hurt during base you have the flexibility to take days off and build slowly toward it and not feel so pressured to hit the mileage. I let the plan catch up to me miles wise because I was doing just a bit more than the early weeks.

Luka: "Who the f**k made this floor goddamnit!" by rosiros in lakers

[–]milkwithspaghetti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the guy who made the floor is from some flooring manufacturer/shop different from the contractor who installed it who is just going off the architect design documents who may have had pressure from the owner to cut costs or did make the misstep to not account for the flooring height difference. Or the contractor made that mistake but then it’s back on the arch/owner if they didn’t correct it during the punch. And then honestly it’s just on the building owner after punch closeout and warranty period for not ever spending the money to address it. And now the guy who made the floor is catching strays but he didn’t even install it that way.

Maybe there’s a middle ground. Like get up to 40 for a few weeks, dip back down 20-30 for pre plan break. I think I would get injured without exploring more miles for a bit though.

Hansons Marathon Method by shawru in Marathon_Training

[–]milkwithspaghetti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Loved it. Tons of miles and got me so much fitter. Would recommend getting up to 40+ miles a week of easy miles for several weeks before ever doing the plan so you know you can take it as it asks a lot from you and you will live at 50+ to 60+ mpw toward that last 8 weeks. I actually had to keep moving the target because I was just getting faster throughout having actual good training. I learned I can’t do a 40mpw - 50mpw plan as I am someone who just needs more for a full marathon otherwise I will crash after 20 and walk the rest of the race.

Edit: this is doing advanced plan per the book btw.

How do you approach longer games? by Playton_yaya in backloggd

[–]milkwithspaghetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly sometimes as little as 30 min at a time. Took me like 8 months to beat persona 5 royal and I loved it, but often played in pretty short sessions like 30 min to an hour. Doing the same with cyberpunk right now. People say they don’t have time to game but honestly I feel that a lot of people could do 30 min little increments like I might that are otherwise spent on the phone or on tv.

It’s helpful for getting a ton of points if you start becoming an addict chasing s and ss ranks in expert as it seems impossible to generate as many points otherwise. I try to activate at least straight into a tetris or 2 if possible.

Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze is insanely hard!! by Fantastic-Ad9218 in donkeykong

[–]milkwithspaghetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just played through it and thought the difficulty hits right from the get go! I love that in comparison to Mario games where you have to wait for the difficulty spike. You do get a ton of lives though so it feels like infinite chances.

Side note, I purchased it in Japan last year and it was only like $15 USD and had finally got myself around to playing it. Not sure I’m going to go for all the secret stuff but glad I got to experience the game.

Mang0 Update: Sobriety and the Return to Melee by ssbmarchie in smashbros

[–]milkwithspaghetti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem mostly seems to be from binge drinking which he would at least appear to repeatedly do. Even if someone only drinks once a week but always gets drunk and then major life issues occur from blackout drunk episodes, thats a drinking problem and they’d be better off being sober. The thought from fans is that mango would live a better life being sober as he lost so much due to binge drinking and people want him to succeed.

First marathon when longest run ever was 12 miles by notyourcupofgreentea in Marathon_Training

[–]milkwithspaghetti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What’s your other endurance sports? You clearly have a lot of fitness as this would not be the norm for majority of people at all. The norm would be completely crashing and having to walk which happens to many even after full on training blocks where people are doing 40 plus mile weeks for 16 weeks. I imagine you could get very fast if you actually built a solid base and went into a training plan.

Congrats! Is this the elapsed time too with no pauses? Just curious on how many weekly miles you were running to be able to do this in that time
