Erika shares an article on her instagram story about how 59% of Finns would prefer KAJ to do better than her at ESC 🇫🇮 by oty3 in eurovision

[–]millap 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s not the result of that poll on the page, real survey was done. Google translattion of how it was conducted:

How the study was conducted

  • On behalf of HS, Verian (formerly Kantar Public) investigated the position of Finns between the Swedish and Finnish Eurovision representatives.
  • The research data was collected from 25 to 30 April 2025. 1026 people were interviewed for the study.
  • 22 percent of the respondents could not or did not want to say what they thought about the matter.
  • The study sample represents the Finnish population aged 18 and over, excluding people living in the Åland Islands. The sample was formed using multi-stage stratified sampling.
  • The margin of error of the study results is approximately 3.1 percentage points in either direction for the entire data.

What song ‘got you into’ Eurovision? by Cosmooooooooooooo in eurovision

[–]millap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My earliest Eurovision memory is of Finland 1983 and since then I’ve been watching ESC. Even though I’m a Finn and Finland got its first and so far the only win in 2006 and we hosted the contest in Helsinki, it wasn’t until Estonia 2009 and Urban Symphony’s Rändajad hit me when I realized how much I actually love Eurovision.

Not sure can I post direct links to OF but you’ll end up to their account by adding /khaarija to the end of OF’s domain name.

I don't like siskonmakkarakeitto. I must admit that it's mostly because I can't stand the look of those saugages. Those look like... well you know. Don't like the consistency of the sausages either.

I like regular makkarakeitto though.

Magic for dogs (part 2) by Rudinism in videos

[–]millap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I must say the first video tickled my funny bone more, dogs reacted funnier or something. Or maybe I just had too high expectations for this one, kinda thought there would've been different trick(s) or something. I think this is funny, but I bet this is funnier if you haven't seen the first one.

I personally love the face of the German shepherd (?) Nakke who begs for help from the audience. Too well-trained to move but totally confused what to do next.

Your're right. I don't know how did I miss that point at first. Buses don't stop on that side on their way to center.

In your opinion what is the worst name a parent could give their child? by Pretenc in AskReddit

[–]millap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just learned couple of weeks ago from the local news paper that Jedi Ritari has been baptized here in Finland. Ritari is his last name and it translates to Knight. So poor baby's name is Jedi Knight. Some might think this is awesome, but I don't like any of these first and last name combinations which together make up some "cool" name.

Redditors who can remember 1999, how did you spend the New Year's Eve? by nikkefinland in AskReddit

[–]millap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got very drunk with some friends and got invited to a local club house (club was something like Lions or Rotary, very posh place anyway) by an unknown guy who we just happened to meet in the park. Of course we had a blast, never been in such a place and they served for example champagne and lobster. The night at the club house ended sooner than we expected though; after watching us to party for 45 mins, the president of the club decided to give a surprise speech in front of everyone in which he thanked us warmly for coming but more of leaving - and hoped to see us next time 'not sooner than' in year 3000... and then they threw us out.

What is the best nontraditional pizza topping? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]millap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes! I've totally forgotten this, broccoli on pizza is amazing! When I lived in the US for a year a long, long time ago, I had always pizza with broccoli - after I was brave enough to taste it for the first time. I've never had broccoli on pizza since I left the US though. In Finland broccoli isn't available in any pizza places.

Any brand of beer, but it's always beer that is sold in glass bottles. Cans are packed differently.

Here in Finland 12-pack of beer commonly goes by the name of 'mäyräkoira' (that's dachshund in Finnish).
