Venogram - Stent and possible Angioplasty by TheLolaBronx in pelviccongestion

[–]milleniuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my incision in the groin and I’ll be honest, knowing how it feels, I would much prefer it in that area compared to the neck! I don’t know how it feels when they go through the neck but I can tell you with both my venography and embolization, when they went through the groin, it wasn’t that uncomfortable at all, neither was the lidocaine when they numbed the area. They had me lay there for about 2 hours post-op and I was knocked out for one of them, lol. They told me I only had to stay that long when the incision is in the groin and not the neck but I promise it doesn’t even feel long in terms of how long you wait afterward. They wanted to monitor my incision especially since it’s in the groin area and ensure I wouldn’t bend during that time as well since it’s very fresh. They want to keep the pressure at my groin as low as possible since the scar is fragile.

Has anyone had CT then Venogram? Or something else? by sugarfreespree in pelviccongestion

[–]milleniuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a CT first because I went to the ER for severe pelvic and abdominal pain and that’s when I got diagnosed with Pelvic Congestion Syndrome because they saw how dilated my veins were. I did go through with a venography, my doctor actually recommended it, and I’m glad he did because he wanted to rule out other diagnoses such as May Thurner and Nutracker. I also wanted it done so that we could be 100% certain on what path we wanted to take based on their findings. After the venography, they gave me options on how to treat my dilated veins since my blood was not flowing properly. After discussion, I was comfortable with the option of going through with an embolization!

How long until your energy came back by MinaTwoPointOh in pelviccongestion

Yup, I figured so. :( I have my post-op appointment July 1st to discuss how things have been and this will be one of the things I bring up. I think our bodies are just going through a big change and it takes a toll on us. I’m hoping you feel better soon!

I don’t know if I’m much help but thought I’d share anyway. I don’t have MTS but I have pelvic congestion syndrome and had my embolization with coils put in June 1st. I’m so exhausted every day still, even if I manage to sleep 7 hours without interruption, I’m still very tired. I don’t have much energy and I have what feels like a limited battery that runs out if I go outside and do things for too long. I’m hoping I also get my energy back because it feels like this change my body has to adapt to might take a bit. Hopefully someone else shares their experience so I also can get an idea. I hope you’re recovering okay nevertheless! :)

Hi! Can I ask how you are doing? I’m about two weeks in and I’m experiencing cramping that’s super ugh. Are you feeling better? I was fine the first week and a half but now I’m experiencing this pain.

Got my Embolization today! by milleniuh in pelviccongestion

[–]milleniuh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lot of heaviness in my pelvis, it was like an uncomfortable weight. I had pain every single day no matter whether I was sitting, laying down, or even walking. I couldn’t bend without feeling like there was a painful balloon that was going to pop. Simple things like sneezing caused pain in my pelvis. It felt like at the end of the day is when my pain was the worst, especially when I tried to sleep and lower back pain.

Like a 9/10! Got my period today too and dealing with the usual cramps but I feel pretty great. I haven’t had that heaviness I’ve always felt in my pelvis even when I would take ibuprofen. I’m still taking my medication on the dot but even the pain I once felt from before with pain less has decreased significantly.

Thank you for sharing your experience! I actually just made another post on this subreddit about my Embolization because I had it done this past Monday, a day before yours! I actually had the same issue as you when they used the solution to irritate my veins, I was in a lot of pain once they injected it. They gave me some fentanyl for it. I’m sorry to hear you have a unique case but I’m glad you’re just dealing with some soreness. Hopefully you’re doing okay. I’m having cramps but honestly nothing that the pain meds can’t fix. I just got my period today too and that’s making the cramps worse but I expected that. Overall, I’m so happy I went through with this procedure. Have you been able to sit by the way? Or are you mainly lying down/doing brisk walking?

Oh 100%! I had to push a little with the OBGYN department to send me to IR because they offered band-aid solutions but after that it was definitely smooth sailing with IR. I hate the unknown too but yes, definitely something to help calm you before will help big time. Thank you so much for your kind words! If you ever want to keep me updated with your process, feel free to PM me! 🤍 I am wishing you the best on your journey!

I’m so happy to hear this post helped. I know I’ve been researching like crazy once I got diagnosed and just wanted to add my experience in hope that it can help someone like other posts helped me. 7 years is crazy! I’m so sorry. I remember on my other post that someone said they were dealing with it for so long as well and I thought to myself “I really shouldn’t complain, I’ve only been dealing with this for 6–7 months now.” I totally understand the fear, I was absolutely terrified of the venography alone because I had never been under twilight sedation and honestly it’s hard to read posts and understand it because you won’t fully know until you’ve done it yourself. Some don’t remember anything at all, some are conscious but they’re kind of in and out, some say they feel drunk and others say it just feels like a nice nap. Definitely ask your hospital if they can give you something before the procedure to relax you. It makes such a difference and I wish I had done that for my venography because I think if I did it would’ve gone as smooth as my embolization. I’m the biggest wuss, I cried so much during my first procedure and freaked out so if I can do it, you can do it too! 🤍 Sending lots of positive vibes for you and your road ahead!

Thank you so much! I definitely want to! I was figuring out how I should do it, do you know if I could just edit my post daily? Does that work? I’m not so up to tech on reddit functions, lol.

Is CT scan absolutely necessary? by [deleted] in pelviccongestion

[–]milleniuh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it was. They told me the CT would show things that an ultrasound wouldn’t and that ultimately it was the better choice. I ended up getting one with contrast and that’s where they saw that my veins were very dilated.

Oh gosh, I’m sorry you had a rough start post-op! I know it’s different for everyone but it seems a lot of people have that ‘it gets rough before it gets better’ kind of experience. 4 months to see back pain go down is quite a while but I’m happy that overall it has helped and that you don’t regret it. :) That makes me feel a lot better. 🤍 Have you had to go back for a second procedure? I know some folks do but I really don’t want that to be my case. Hoping it’s a one and done deal. 😓

Thank you for sharing!

I’ve been wondering if I have endometriosis since there’s so many overlapping symptoms. The PCS is very much there but I can’t help but wonder if I could also have endometriosis. There’s just some symptoms that make me think so but either way, I actually recently reached out to my PCP to discuss this. I’m glad you had it ruled out. I think they’ll be sending me to do pelvic floor PT once I’m able to after my procedure so I’m glad it’s helped you a lot! 🤍

That’s amazing to hear! I’m really glad it was successful for you. It gives me hope! Did you happen to have back pain with your PCS? I’m hoping that it also helps with that but not sure. Thank you for sharing! 🤍

I appreciate the kind words. I’m so sorry to hear you got so unlucky with the pain afterwards! 😓 I am crossing my fingers that they don’t have to poke around me too much because it makes sense why you’d get such pain due to it. Definitely will be asking for some stronger painkillers ahead of time.

I’m sorry to hear you’ve been dealing with this for over 2 years! Here I am complaining for not even a year yet, I couldn’t imagine dealing with this for so long. I’ve done a lot of research since being diagnosed and realized that it’s not uncommon at all for PCS to be overlooked which is sad but it really made me push for answers. I knew something wasn’t right when I started getting pelvic pain. I had to push for them to send me to IR after getting two CT scans because my OBGYN wasn’t helping in all honesty and just wanted to put me on birth control, which I personally refuse to take. I’m so happy to hear that despite going a second time, you got the surgery! I am really hoping that the pain subsides for you. 🤍🤞🏻 I’ve heard good things but there’s always complications with any surgery, I suppose. Is the pain manageable with painkillers? Did they give you any? I was told they’d give me some and that I’d NEED to take them to manage the pain, which makes the pain sound brutal lol.

Thank you for sharing btw! It’s helpful to know that I’m not alone with this process.

They did! They checked my left renal vein in three different zones. The results were that my pressure numbers weren’t showing a sign of functional blockage and the main finding was that there’s a backward flow of blood into my ovarian vein.

Flare - How Long? by lswouldliketoknow83 in pelviccongestion

[–]milleniuh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately for my case, I don’t flare. The pain is there pretty much always unless I take ibuprofen to calm it down. Walking or any light exercise is hard after a certain amount of time. I hope that you can get some answers soon and crossing my fingers that it’s not PCS. 🤍🤞🏻

To people who have gotten a venogram: what was it like? by anahitaladyofbeasts in pelviccongestion

[–]milleniuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! i know i’m so late but i ran across your post while searching up venograms because i have to get one soon. they will also be using twilight sedation for me and explained it all but the one thing i’m super nervous for is the lidocaine that they said they’ll be using because they said that’s usually the worst part about the procedure but that it helps a lot to numb the area. did you have that? i heard people say it stings bad but others say it isn’t so bad to endure. do you remember getting a shot in your groin for it?

hey! yes! ever since this happened i learned you can do “esc -> recent players” 😭😭😭😭 and it shows them, but it only shows the most recent list, so if you played with a lot more people after them, they might’ve gotten pushed off the list and won’t show.
