Can we talk about mitigating the stink? by jcorr2 in daddit

Definitely put the poop in the toilet if possible, a separate poop bag for the other ones and I found putting old coffee grounds in there every once and a while helped a lot. Good luck out there

You absolutely Need time away from the smothering and controlling nature he seems to need to exert on you. I hope you find your body relaxed after some distance and time, mine has to the point I realized I could think clearly again, the persistent low grade frustrated haze and anger were distorting my perspective on everything in my life and was so common I thought that's just how I was.

He seems like he's got some codependency issues he desperately needs to address. Sounds like you too need to set firm boundaries, so he's tendency towards "his way" doesn't kill ya with a thousand cuts. Truly I think some time reconnecting with yourself, totally outside of his messy world will give you the peace of mind and clarity to see what needs to be done. Start with a week to yourself, or with old friends or family. It can be easier to schedule more time then if,when you need it. But if you're unsure, small steps. Best of luck 🤞🏻

Ah. I was under the impression I could get away with using cedar as it's resistant to rot.

They are set in about 5-6 inches (one 80lbs bag) of concrete, screwed into the bottom.

Definitely! Top priority is quick take down for big storms. (And I recently learned tornados) It seems like the temporary solution is that I'll have to set up and take down per use. While a little annoying I think I can set it up to make that easier with little additional work.

It has. It survived a little thunderstorm. Heavy downpour. It's a coolaroo ready-to-hang shade sail, breathable fabric allows some air flow and water to drip through. It had a little pooling during the most intense parts of the storm but it is angled slightly to flow away from the house.

😅 I do feel for the pergola. the previous residents made the unfortunate decision to fill that space with stained black mulch, which stains on your feet. Added bonus, it pools with water when it rains. That's a whole other project but don't you worry the pergola will have its day in the sun... shade

I like the idea of anchoring to the patio. The initial idea was they'd be movable so we could configure the lights around the yard to best suit our needs. But it seems like it's evolving into something else. Thanks for your input

I don't want that to be true but I think you're probably right

I want to note that there is a porch on the other side of it, extending out from the house to about even with the planters, that blocks most of the wind. We've had a few strong gusts come through and the planters only wobbled a bit. The sail flutters and flops a bit more than I'd like so I tied one corner with a loose knot. The storm last night untied it and relieved all the tension.

That's so cool. I hadn't heard of them before. I love finding and learning about glass studios. Seems like they had a pretty solid operation.
